Description Paolo Benvenuto 2013-04-01 15:28:46 UTC
I sometimes prepare documents which must be printed with some custom values of page layout, and with page size different from document page size.

Tipical example is an A5 doc printed with brochure mode on A4 landscape: this settings are remembered. [OK]

However, if I use the pages per sheet print feature, neither this setting nor the page size setting is remembered. [BUG]

The bugs looks to me a long time one, i.e. it's not a regression introduced with recent versions.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting Paolo. To reproduce this behavior, is it possible to provide a step-by-step guide how we can reproduce your behavior?

Like:
* Open calc
* File > Print
* Select 'Pages' in the 'Ranges and pages' section
* Close dialog
* ... etc

We are aware of Bug 47572, but it confirm conversely behavior (it saves all settings, also if you cancel the dialog). Therefore it will be useful to have a step by step guide :-).

Kind regards,
Joren

- open a document (I'm opening an a5 doc)
- ctl-p
- page layout tab
- set 4 pages per sheet
- general tab
- paper size a4, orientation portrait
- ok = print
- reopen print dialog => all the settings are lost

Confirmed. Attachment 91109 [details] that I created for bug 42657 can be used to test this report. Under Crunchbang 11 x86_64 using v4.1.3.2 Build ID: 70feb7d99726f064edab4605a8ab840c50ec57a only the printer properties (General tab) appear to be saved. All File > Print settings under the Layout and Options tabs are reset between each attempt to print.

I have also tested this under Ubuntu 10.04 x86_64 using:

- v3.3.0.4 OOO330m19 Build: 6
- v3.4.6.2 OOO340m1 Build: 602
- v3.5.7.2 Build ID: 3215f89-f603614-ab984f2-7348103-1225a5b
- v3.6.7.2 Build ID: e183d5b
- v4.0.6.2 Build ID: 2e2573268451a50806fcd60ae2d9fe01dd0ce24

All of these versions display the same behaviour of not saving Layout and Options settings from one use of the print dialog to the next (these older versions also fail to save the printer properties as I indicate in bug 42657). Version set to Inherited From OOo.

Dear Paolo Benvenuto,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team
