Created attachment 79146 [details] image showing the behavior text_frame.png XP, LO Version 4.0.4.0+ Insert->Picture->From File text only works if there is no "flowed text frame" (in Inkscape only clicking on the canvas and then typing will work) some comments/testing on SVG import can be found here: http://en.libreofficeforum.org/node/293

Thanks (again ;-) ) for reporting. I can reproduce this behavior using Linux Mint 15 x64 with LibreOffice 4.0.3.3 and LibreOffice Version: 4.2.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: 66c315bcf2b78c4928d1e436d1a853f58f4cccd Kind regards, Joren
Reproducible with LO 4.4.1.2 (Win 8.1): Image text with "flowed text frame" will be imported as a black rectangle
Migrating Whiteboard tags to Keywords: (filter:svgInsert, filter:svgOpen)
This is still reproducible in Version: 5.3.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: ae3ec79354f7b4967e736c6a4cd7c08fc52e2b7d CPU Threads: 4; OS Version: Linux 4.2; UI Render: default; Locale: ca-ES (ca_ES.UTF-8); Calc: group
Actually the rendering is correct at import time but not when opening.
** Please read this message in its entirety before responding ** To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone! Has anyone thought to check this Inkscape .svg file in a web browser window? I just did in Firefox 69.0b8 and Chromium 74.0.3729.157 (macOS 10.12.6) and I see the same behaviour as when inserted in a Writer document in LibreOffice 6.3.0.2 (RC2), i.e., only "working text" is rendered, "not working text" is invisible. I opened the .svg in Inkscape 0.92.4 and it renders "correctly", both text boxes are visible and editable. I'm thinking it's an Inkscape bug...?
See linked Inkscape FAQ.
Linked Inkscape FAQ? Where?
Never mind...found it and read it. What a mess.
