Description Makoto Takizawa 2013-07-08 11:55:38 UTC
It is possible to add hyperlink to text and bush button on same way
but remove way is different. It make user confuse.
I think better to remove function which can add hyperlink to push button with hyperlink dialog.

How to add hyperlink.
  1. make a push button with form controls tool bar.
  2. select Insert -> hyperlink.
  3. add url like http://www.libreoffice.org/ in target on hyperlink dialog.
  4. click apply and click close.

How to remove that link.
 for text
  1. select hyperlink text
  2. select insert -> hyperlink
  3. remove hyperlink url on hyperlink dialog.

 for push button
  1. select a push button with degin mode.
  2. open properties dialog from controls tools bar.
  3. select action to open document/web page to none.

Hi Makoto Takizawa,

Thank you for the idea and remark.
I always looked at the function as a convenient way to add a button, but did not realise that removing is different.
One can of course remove the text area in which the button is.
But why not add a contect menu 'remove hyperlink' for the button?
Kind regards,
Cor

Hi Cor Nouws .
Thank you for your comment.

>But why not add a contect menu 'remove hyperlink' for the button?

add context menu "remove hyperlink" is nice idea. That is a convenient way.
I think that time also better to have remove function to push button on hyperlink dialog for a consistency.

Why not simply enter design mode, right-click on the button, select Control... context menu and edit the Label and URL fields? Status set to NEEDINFO. Please set back to UNCONFIRMED after responding.

In version 4, to remove an hyperlink, do that:
1/ hyperlink as text: right click on the hyperlink -> choose Remove Hyperlink
2/ hyperlink as button : select the button then press the delete key
2 bis/ hyperlink as button: if in fact you wanted an hyperlink as text instead of button, select the button, open the hyperlink dialog, change the form from button to text, validate.

Where is the problem? I propose to close this bug report as NotABug or WontFix.

Best regards. JBF

Argh, the button of an hyperlink seems to be selectable without entering the design mode, only if the document has not been saved since the creation of the button. So my previous comment is applicable only if you have a remorse just after having added this button.

A context menu "remove hyperlink" for the button would be a good thing. Or at least a context menu "remove the button".

Best regards. JBF

I remember reading about this in another bug or forum post.

OK. Let's confirm this then. Status set to NEW. Summary amended for clarity.

Owen, I Second this, I'm sure in a previous version there was an option to 'remove hyperlink', and believe this a good feature.

In MS Excel 2003 the right click context menu contains 'remove' which converts the link to plain text.

This option should ideally be available from the context menu and the hyperlink edit panel.

form controls are possible in more components than Writer

The context menu has now an entry to remove hyperlinks. => WFM (actually fixed)
Comment 11 Heiko Tietze 2017-11-27 14:15:08 UTC
Oups, it was meant for form controls. And that's indeed missing. No UX input needed.

In Writer the right click context menu includes the option to edit and remove the hyper link.

In Calc the right click context menu has no hyper link editing options.

In both the Ctrl+K Hyper link edit box does not have the option to remove the link.

Only for Calc:

I tested and tried.

Basically the issue (missing feature) is unchanged in V7.0.3.1 and workarounds are either complicated or not reliable or both.
A solution by user code is possible but also complicated, at least if it is expected to preserve differently set text attributes for portions. See the mentioned Q&A thread for more detail (I'm "Lupp" there.).
