Description Dario 2013-09-01 01:02:21 UTC
Hi there,

 I am running LibreOffice 4.0.5 over a Kubuntu 13.04 amd64 box.

I have been suffering a bug for quite long ... and I have finally committed to report it.

Well, the background is ... my main and unique machine is a 12.1 inches laptop. This is a small screen, every single chunk of the screen is 'gold'.

So some time ago I decided the LO 'Status bar' was not going to be shown. I know I am missing features, but after thoroughly thinking about the pros and the cons ... that was my choice.

The problem arises when I am pasting TEXT ( it doesn't happen if I paste images ) from outwards LO (Firefox, Konsole, etc ... ) ... in these cases a solid 'Status Bar' gets drawn on the screen.

As far as I remember I've been suffering such an annoying behaviour since the beginning of LO times in the hope the time would bring a fix ... but it seems the time doesn't bring anything ... so here is my bug report :-).

Could you please have a look at that ???

 Thanks a lot !!!

Could you provide more info? What do you see? What do you expect instead? Please attach 1 or 2 screenshots displaying the issue and exact steps to reproduce.

This will help tremendously in speeding up the process of confirming and successively fixing this bug.

This is how I am reproducing this problem now :

  1 - Open LibreOffice Writer. ( screenshot01.png )

  2 - Go to Konsole ( you could take many other applications ). ( screenshot02.png )

3 - Select some text from Konsole and copy it. ( screenshot03.png )

  4 - Paste the text over LibreOffice Writer. ( screenshot04.png )

You could take screenshot05.png as a summary.

 Hope that helps.

reproduced in 4.1.1 on Fedora (RFR) 64 bit
Steps to reproduce:
0. Disable View->Status bar
1. Copy something in Firefox
2. Paste into Writer
Expected: Status bar remains disabled
Actually: It becomes enabled

I confirm this bug is still present in version 7.2.2.2, and boy is it annoying! When I choose to hide the status bar, I don't expect to see it reappear at the first paste action.

The pasted text copied from another application, e.g. Goggle translate or Notepad++, makes the bar show up without being prompted.
Comment 10 phv 2021-11-04 13:46:41 UTC
Moreover, it's required to toggle the status bar on then off for this empty interface to hide again... until the next copy-paste action.

The solution would be bug 107495 in my opinion, but see also bug 124835

Dear Dario,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa
