Description Iskandar Baharuddin 2013-11-11 09:02:59 UTC
Initially all color applications played up. After rebooting the situation is:

Font colors are black on the display:

This is a screen print of the edit display

This is a screen print of the print preview.
http://sigma3.info/cloud/colortestscreenprint.jpg

Yet the colors print correctly on paper.

They render correctly in .pdf
http://sigma3.info/cloud/colortest.pdf

Morover, the colors render correctly in a browser (Chrome):

http://sigma3.info/cloud/colortest.odt

After more that thirty years I know weird, but this is serious weird.

Yep, sounds very weird! I see the off-color in the program icons as well.

Please try re-installing using the latest version of LibreOffice and let us know if that fixes the problem, changes the symptoms, or has no effect:

You might also try with the pre-release 4.2.0.1: http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/

Setting to NEEDINFO until more detail is provided.

After providing the requested info, please reset this bug to UNCONFIRMED. Thanks :)

After re-installing LibreOffice the rendering is unchanged. If I set a font to red it displays as black. If I change to edit mode it renders as red.

A real head-scratcher.

Indeed.

Let's try resetting your user profile, and seeing if that fixing things for you:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Resolving_corruption_in_the_user_profile

There's a possibility something in there is causing some very weird color interactions...

Isn't it a clone of Bug 71485?

@Qubit: It's the 'high-contrast' icon theme that comes with LO.

As for the color bug, I already pointed in Bug 71485 that we actually have a setting which might cause it. Take a look at Tools->Options...->LibreOffice->Accessibility->Options for high contrast appearance. There is 'Use automatic font color for screen display'.
