Some selected text in the crashed writer.

Problem description:
Everytime I try to select some text using the command « shift + arrow commands » Libre Office crashes. I cannot tell if it happens when I press « command » to copy some text or what, or if I just press « command » one second before leaving « shift », I just know that it has already happened at least five times, and that I was caught up selecting some text using only the keyboard. I also use alt a lot while using the shift, because you select text faster, I think it may be something related to excessive use of keys: shift + arrows + alt + command at the same time. I lost important text each time, and now I'm backing up each five minutes because I'm really used to select text using the keyboard.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Normaly it is happening on large texts, I'm not sure if it is needed. The important thing is to try to select some text using the keyboard, probably more than just one paragraph, and then try to go up and down with the arrows.
2. Try to press "command" to copy some text while have the shift and alt pressed.

Current behavior:
- Writer may crash, the cursor pinwheels and all unsaved text may be lost.
- It is still possible to see the last "screenshot" of text before force quitting LibreOffice. You can also use command + tab to go to other apps, but to see the "screenshot" again you may minimize the other windows, because just with command + tab LibreOffice won't appear again.

I attach a screenshot I needed to take to save some text, it doesn't say much about exactly what happens but you can see that there is some text selected on two paragraphs.

Thank you very much!

Hi, which OSX are you on?

Is this bug still valid / reproducible with the latest LO release? Currently 4.2.3: http://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/

Please also try resetting your user profile and let us know if that helps: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile

Should this be still reproducible for you with the latest LO release please set this bug back to UNCONFIRMED. Should this issue be solved set it to WORKSFORME.

Setting to NEEDINFO until more detail is provided.

Foss,

Thank you for your advice. It has just happened again, I have a screenshot but I think it doesn't help anything. I'm using the OS X 10.9.2, and I'm downloading the last version and then I'm going to reset my user profile. I hope it doesn't help again, because each time I think I'm gonna lose all my work. I'll check soon if it happens or not and then come back here.

Best regards,

Marcelo

I can't notice the problem anymore, it is probably solved, thank you very much :)
If it happens again I'll come here and write about it.

I'm sorry to tell you, but the problem has just happened again... I thought it solved the problem because I did some tests, but in fact it is still happening. There's is something else that I can do to try to show you what is happening? There isn't a log generator or something like that that I could report about what happened?

Best regards,

Marcelo

See https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugReport/Debug_Information#Mac_OSX:_How_to_get_debug_information to provide information about the crash.

Following Foss' comment1, did you rename your LO directory profile? Did you upgrade to 4.2.3?
Comment 7 masmuller 2014-05-08 00:00:06 UTC
Yes, Julien Nabet, as I said above, I did reset my configs and installed the latest version, and it happened once more. Next time it happens I'll use your useful debug information and then post it here.

Seems to happen also on Ubuntu with 4.2.3~rc3. Steps to reproduce may to include selecting text over a paragraph break. Although, there is something else needed to reproduce as it does not happen consistently.
