same bug with prior verion(s)

This bug is 100% repeatable on my system. I am editing an HTML document, select all (CTL-A) then pick 'Format Page' from the menu.

Writer immediately crashes, closing the document and Writer.

This happens all the time with no exception. I believe it happens regardless of the document as well.

Document is attached.

It makes me think about fdo#65852 put in See Also.

Do you reproduce this with a brand new odt file + just format page (so without Select All)?

Also, could you rename your LO directory profile (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Windows) and give it a new try?
Comment 2 Brian Piccioni 2014-05-11 02:31:20 UTC
When I CTRL-N from the ‘problem HTML file’ to create a new HTML document I get the same result (immediate crash and shut down).

When I start Writer and open a new ODF file Format Page appears to work.

If I then save that document as an HTML file, Format Page appears to work.

I am sorry, I do not understand “Also, could you rename your LO directory profile” as I do not understand what the LO directory profile is.

I read through the ‘see also’ bug #65852 report and it looks identical. I notice the person was asked to reset the User profile by renaming the /appdata/roaming/libreoffice/4/user directory. I did this and now the system no longer crashes with the aforementioned file.

I retained the old user profile for experimentation should you want me to do so.

Thank you.

Brian

Update

Everything worked fine the first run of Writer after resetting the profile. I closed Writer and reopened the ‘bad’ HTML file and the problem reappeared. I created a new HTML file and the problem reappeared (i.e. the empty file causes the crash).

I can now recreate the problem, I think, always.

I rename my profile.

Start Writer.

When I start it anew, I can Format Page on the new, default ODF document.

If I then File New HTML document, I notice the rule ‘looks weird’ – it is 14” wide.

Format Page does nothing. No crash, but no other effect.

If I enter any text (i.e. two spaces) and Format Page, Writer crashes, etc..

This sounds so much like bug 77242 that I am closing it as a

Brian,

If you disagree, please set the bug status back to UNCONFIRMED.
On the other hand, when you see the bug fixed (LibreOffice version
