Description Bob Schaffer 2014-05-22 23:19:32 UTC
I am using Windows 8.1, and have dowbloaded Libre Office 4.2.4.2. I have installed a shortcut icon on my desktop, but LibreOffice will notopen when I click on that icon. Also, my document files will not open, and that is a real bummer when you can't open document files that you use on a daiy basis. I downloaded LibreOffice to use instead of having to pay Microsoft's exhorbitant price for Office. However, if I had the money to spend(which I don't) I know that I wouldn't have to wonder if Office would be able to work on my new laptop, or not. It just would.

What is the fix for this problem...please? This is really unusual.

Thanks,

Bob Schaffer

try to uninstall and reinstall again.
if issue persists try the portable release from here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/winpenpack/files/X-LibreOffice/releases/

I have 4.2.4.2 installed on W8 and it works fine.

Uninstall and reinstall should resolve. Also you can try resetting your profile:

I unistalled and then re-installed Libre Office
yesterday, and even though I got some popup
messages that were negative(can't remember
just what they stated, but to the effect that I was
not going to be able to access LibreOffice), Libre
Office did open, so I pinned the icon to my lower
task bar for easy access.

Lo and behold, now this morning it won't open again.

This has become a total time waster, and time is one
thing none of us get back once it has been used. This
is a real pain in the rear, to say the least. I have NEVER
had a problem like this before, and I cannot seem to figure
this one out.

I accessed the link for my profile, but that is like my first day
in my Latin class in high school.... totally foreign!

Is this mainly a problem with Windows 8, and if so, why isn't
there an easier solution to this problem?

I have done my searches online, so I'm well aware that I am not
the only one having this problem.
