Description stefan 2014-07-21 14:04:11 UTC
received .odt generated on Mac OS.
file opens ok.
embedded pictures show initially;
then pictures are replaced by space holders with message "Read-Error" within the space holders;
then the space holders disappear.
not all pictures disappear.
cannot say what inputs start the disappearance.

Could you attach a minimum example file so we can try to reproduce? (have in mind that any attachment is automatically made public, so remove any private/confidential part).
You can use this link to attach a file + comment:

Mac OS produced - pics lost on MS OS.odt

Not sure how to submit an example:

I see the pictures upon opening. They disappear while using the file.

For non-disclosure reasons I cannot send the original file in unmodified version.
I attach a file that I just created by copying a portion of the original file, which I opened with LibreOffice on MS OS and pasting it into a new odt file - don't think this will help. (the picture that disappeared is in a table - pictures disappear regardless if in table or directly in text)

On pc Debian x86-64 with LO 4.2.5 Debian package, I don't see anything wrong on the odt file.

Could you attach a screenshot of the problem?

Please don't answer directly from your emailer but from one of these links:

duplicate of the other attachment (due to the fact that the reporter responded directly from his emailer).

screenshot of document

As requested I took a screenshot of the open document.

A picture similar to the one still shown was in the empty line above.

During a previous step in loosing the picture a space holder with some message similar "picture not found"/"picture not available" or such was shown in the now empty line.

This loosing pictures happened - to me randomly - throughout the document.

Unzipping odt file shows a png + a thumbnail showing itself a missing picture.

Testing the odt file with odf validator online, https://odf-validator.rhcloud.com/, shows errors.

The odt file is corrupted/incomplete. You should ask a new version of it.

I put it as INVALID.

Don't hesitate to reopen this tracker if you still reproduce this with a new complete version of the file.
