This is referred to the italian version of Writer, on Ubuntu 14.4 - I have not checked versions for other languages. The "Structure and Formatting" dialog which opens upon insert or edit of a chapter index ("Indexes and Tables") does not show the buttons to insert elements (Chapter no., Tab stop, etc.) in the selected entry unless "Preview" is unchecked.
Can you provide clear reproducible steps for us? Enumerated is best: 1. .... 2. .... 3. .... Observed: Expected: Marking as NEEDINFO - once you provide clear repro steps please mark the bug as UNCONFIRMED. Thanks!
Into a fresh odt document with few chapters 1) insert an Index (table of contents) via Insert -> Index and Tables 2) r-click on the index and select change index ("modifica indice/tabella") 3) select the entries tab ("Voci") - the tab opens with the overview ("Anteprima") check-box selected (right bottom) the tab shows - a top row, labelled "Structure" (struttura) with a scrollable list of icons, - followed by a void space (where the missing buttons should be) - followed by a drop down labelled character style - followed by a check box labelled Tab position relative... - the bottom of the form, on the left, the Preview check box, selected 4) uncheck the Preview check box 5) the expected buttons (chapter no., entry text etc.) appear in the void space below the top row Observed: the row of buttons for editing the entry are missing if the Overview check-box is checked Expected: the row of buttons for editing the entry to be visible regardless of the status of the overview check-box (as in the english version)

Sorry Nano but we need the test document that has "Into a fresh odt document with few chapters" this step accomplished. We don't have the volunteer/man power to recreate these types of documents. Marking as NEEDINFO again, once you attach a sample document move back to UNCONFIRMED. Also in the future please respond directly on the bug tracker as email responses add extra text that clutters comments. Thanks!
Created attachment 105723 [details] a very simple test document The problem consistently shows up on any document
Comment on attachment 105723 [details] a very simple test document The bug shows up in the Italian version of Writer - I hanve not tested other languages on this version of Writer
The bug does not shows up - i.e. the Writer index entry editing dialog works as it should - when the UI language is changed from Italian to English
I confirm this bug in the Brazilian Portuguese version of 4.3.4. Index structure buttons don't show if the visualization checkbox is marked. See images attached.
Created attachment 110493 [details] Dialog with missing structure buttons This image shows the issue when the visualization is ON.
Created attachment 110494 [details] Structure buttons displayed otherwise Index structure buttons displayed when visualization is off.
