Created attachment 107184 [details] My attachment is a test of the attachment process. The actual upload may be ignored. 1. My first suggestion: I clicked on the choice to submit an improvement and arrived here. If the link is broken, please be advised. If the link to submit an improvement is the same as the link to submit a bug, then you ought to say so, and not confuse us. My second suggestion: After a bug has been submitted your next web page should advise the submitter of the Bug Number. I needed to correct a bug submission last night and couldn't accurately describe my earlier submission. My third suggestion: I added a file by browsing, however there was no Upload button. When I clicked on Browse again, for the second file, it over-wrote (or lost) the first file. I still don't know what I did wrong. Maybe it's a user training issue? Maybe the upload button is hidden until needed? I certainly looked for it, but it wasn't there. I have just tried again, but still/again there is no Upload button. Operating System: Windows 7 Version: 4.3.0.4 release
Hi John, could you tell from where you fill the bug: - the form on the libreoffice website? - or from BugZilla direclty? - how did you upload the document if there is no upload button? also why do you add wikihelp in the summary of your bug, were you on the wiki? you choose Documentation as component, is there an issue with the LibreOffice documentation? I need to know from where you filled the bug to be able to help you and triage the bug. When you answer, please use this link https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84554, do not answer within your mail client. Thanks - Sophie
Created attachment 108265 [details] Contains the steps to reproduce my problem I am trying to report an improvement in the method used to report an improvement! There is no icon for that. I can select each of the components like Writer, but I have no idea what is the name of the component where I submit requests for improvement. I thought it might be this wiki thing, but I'm a layman in this arena and I have no idea what you mean by a wiki if it isn't Wikipedia. My first step was to click on Help in Writer then click on Send Feedback... So, if you open the attachment: (1) I clicked on "File Enhancement Request" and was taken to Bug Submission Assistant. This is a bug because I am not submitting a bug. (2) I browse for a file to upload, but there is no button to upload it. I can only Submit it and that closes this session. (3) Elsewhere on this forum, unde4r my name, I made a submission which needed two attachments. I attached one, submitted it and I did not get any indication of the bug ID so (a) I could not make a necessary correction to it and (b) I could not submit the second document. THEREFORE, my enhancement requests are seven: 1. When the user clicks on "File an enhancement request" the next screen should be headed "Enhancement request. 2. When submitting an enhancement, there should be an extra icon for the whole Enhancement Request / bug report procedure. 3. As soon as the initial submission is complete the user should be shown the Bug ID. 4. Allow people to attach multiple documents 5. Don't be so rude and shouty with the error message shown in my attachment 6. Allow any of the usual extensions for attachment. 7. Use less programming jargon in your error messages John van Someren
I have just read my latest attachment and I am cannot understand how this bug submission process works: 1. I am not submitting a bug. I clicked on Enhancement Request. 2. I cannot read the PDF I attached. I only attached a PDF because I got this bright red shouty message when I attached the same info as an ODT file and clicked on Submit. Yet my first submission contain an ODT file as a submission. What did I do wrong? John van Someren
Hi John, sorry that you experienced those problems. We are using a bug tracking tool named BugZilla. This is not a tool managed by the foundation, so there are some settings we cannot manage. That will soon change with our own BugZilla instance. In the mean time, to help our users, we have designed an assistant which is a gateway to BugZilla. So the first screenshot in your document is the LibreOffice website, the second is the Bug submission assistant, the third is BugZilla. The latter is a difficult tool for user, more dedicated to developers. It handles bugs and requests for enhancement, the second drop down list in front of Importance allow you to choose Enhancement (I set it). BugZilla is a database with a web frontend, so to find your bugs, you have to make a query using the Search link. I hope this helps you to understand the process you followed. I agree with you that it's a complicated and absolutely not user friendly tool, we are well aware of that, and that's why we designed the Bug Submission Assistant. But this tool is very effective for QA members and developers. Let me know if I can help you further. I'm closing your request because this is not a bug in the product, and it should be handled on the website mailing-list. But it you need further information, just let me know - Sophie
Thank you Sophie John
