With the addition of the 'Insert Field' button to Writer's toolbar in master, it would be useful to not only provide the insertion of the default format of each fields, but to also provide commonly used alternatives found in the fields dialog, as well as combinations and useful formats. This can be achieved with sub menus. Presently, the drop down is as follows. Page Number Page Count Date Time Title Author Subject - separator - More Fields... I would like to propose something along these lines for the Page Number, Date, and Time entries. Page Number > # # of ## Page # Page # of ## - separator - More Page Numbers... Date > MM/DD/YYYY DD/MM/YYYY Day, Month DD, YYYYY Month DD, YYYY MM/DD/YY DD/MM/YY YYYY-MM-DD DD-MMM-YY MMM. DD, YY - separator - MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM AM/PM Day, Month DD, YYYYY HH:MM AM/PM [...] - separator - More Dates... Time > HH:MM AM/PM HH:MM:SS AM/PM HH:MM HH:MM:SS - separator - More Times... These submenus are to achieve quicker access from users, so they dont have to open the dialog to modify the format of the inserted field afterwards.
We're replacing our use of the 'ux-advise' component with a keyword: Component -> LibreOffice Add Keyword: needsUXEval [NinjaEdit]
I object the idea as way too many options in a simple quick access. The 'would-be-nice-to-have' request is not a good basis for discussion. For example the various date formats makes no sense as users likely do not switch between American and European style but rather want their locale setting. And if you insert a time with a certain precision you don't change this later. So if you had personalization in mind we better go with presets, user favorites, or previously used. Otherwise the 'more fields' access to the dialog with all options is perfectly working for me. Other opinions?

For Agree here. OTOH, some most used fields in a split button? There are split buttons all over the place, so it's not unique :)
