Created attachment 108751 [details] Screencopy of the bug. I have a spreadsheet containing MAC adresses. One of the MAC adress contains "e9:9e" at the end. When I validate the cell, the last "e" is changed in exponent. The default format is used. When I change the format in text or with a personal format (ie "xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx"), there is no change.
I can't reproduce the change. Even though this might not even be considered as bug, I'd like you to attach a sample file so we can take a look. Win 7 64-bit Version: 4.4.0.0.alpha2+ Build ID: 9229170920ab770624415c4330da57af5b1b5398 TinderBox: Win-x86@39, Branch:master, Time: 2014-11-09_03:16:43

Thanks for the file. I tried inputting by hand aa:aa:aa:aa:e9:9e into C3, which has "Number" as the format (some of the others have your user defined format). The last "e" was not changed to an exponent. Hello, In C21, you can see the problem. If I copy C5 in C21 the last "e" is not changed to an exponent, but if I input by hand the string "aa:aa:aa:aa:e9:9e" the last "e" is changed to an exponent ...

I can see that it has the exponent, but if I delete the contents and type by hand, I don't get the exponent. However, if I start to edit the contents and backspace away the exponent and then type "e", the exponent reappears. Let's keep this as UNCONFIRMED and wait for input from other testers.
Thank you for the help. I'll try to delete and type again the sequence ...

I've the same findings (win7, LO 4.3.4). When I open this file in excel 2010 I see the same format - last 'e' in cell C21 is exponent. Closing as notabug.
