Presently in Calc, there isnt an easy means of changing the number format of a cell without opening the format cell dialog, so it would be useful to include the default list of number formats in the Format menu bar.

yeah yeah :) So remove the current buttons and create one drop-down? (When all buttons are drop-downs, we end up with a second menu bar ;P )

Yousuf Philips committed a patch related to this issue. It has been pushed to "master": http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=3ec607fbb2bc98924126a0098fbef88c87305ddf fdo#86086 addition of number format submenu and simplifying items It will be available in 4.4.0. The patch should be included in the daily builds available at http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/ in the next 24-48 hours.
