Description Scott 2014-11-16 01:38:43 UTC
Here's what I did:

1. Create a new blank document, open Styles panel (F11) and modify the Default style (I added a little more cell padding and larger font size).
2. Saved this as a template.
3. Set it to the default template. Now all new documents start with this default style.
4. Click the green plus at the bottom to insert a new sheet.

But the new sheet comes up with the old style (smaller text, less padding).

Strangely, if I go to modify the Default style again, it comes up with my new styles. In other words, if I click "Modify..." then OK without changing anything, the sheet now takes my new default styles.

I'm on Ubuntu 14.10.

Cannot confirm.

Ubuntu 14.10 x64
LibreOffice 4.3.2.2 release

Are you 100% sure you're seeing this. What I do is a create the new sheet, then I select a cell, right click, and go to format cells - everything reflects the changes I made to Default style.

Setting to WFM for now - if you are sure that you're seeing this, please attach a template that we can test and then set the bug back to UNCONFIRMED. Thanks!

Yes I'm absolutely sure. I've also just tested on Mac (OS X 10.10) using LibreOffice 4.2.6.3. I did it without the templates this time, just this:

1. Open a new spreadsheet.
2. Open the "Styles and Formatting" panel.
3. Right click "Default" and click "Modify..."
4. Set 'Font > Size' to 11 and 'Borders > Spacing to contents' to 1mm. Click OK and all the cells get bigger as expected.
5. Click the green plus next to "Sheet1", OR 'Insert > Sheet'. The new sheet comes up with the cells the original size.

As I already explained, if I right click Default and go to modify it again, the styles are as I already set them (font size 11, spacing 1mm). If I click OK then it applies the styles, just like it did originally in step 4 above.

I think the problem isn't exactly that the styles are not applying, it's that the cell widths and heights come up incorrectly. On second inspection, on the new sheet the text *is* coming up at the correct size with the correct spacing. But the cells are too small and not resizing to fit the new Default style. See the attached screenshots.
