Description Tim Lloyd 2014-12-04 23:23:20 UTC
Created attachment 110472 [details]
locks up when print page 5 to file

I have a file with a couple of graphics (attached)

Ultimately I want to grab the pics and use GIMP to store them as jpegs. First I try to print (to file) the page containing the graphic (page 5).

I select print
print to file
select the relevant page
specify a file name in my Downloads folder
writer locks up after I hit save

Operating system Fedora 21

Version: 4.4.0.0.beta1
Build ID: 9af3d21234aa89dac653c0bd76648188cdeb683e
Locale: en_AU

However if I head over to 4.3 the above procedure works fine

Version: 4.3.3.2
Build ID: 9bb7eadab57b6755b1265afa86e04bf45fbfc644

Is there a later revision of 4.4 I can try?

Cheers

as usual I get garbage when I try and view the attachment. Is this just me or can someone advise details to attach an odt file.

Cheers

Yes, it's a known flaw of the current bugzilla instance. You can correct it by clicking on the "Details" link next to the attachment entry, and then on "edit details", and fix the MIME type. I'll do it this time.

works fine under Win81x64 using 4.5.0.0.alpha0+

My LibreOffice 4.4.0 beta 1 installation doesn't locks but anyway I could not see any .ps file in output.

Maybe linux only. I get the same problem with 4.5

Version: 4.5.0.0.alpha0+

Repro steps:
> I select print
> print to file
> select the relevant page (page 5)

File -> Print (opens dialog)

Under 'General' tab, set Pages to 5
Under 'Options' tab, check the box for 'Print to file'

Then click the button 'Print to file'.

> specify a file name in my Downloads folder
> writer locks up after I hit save

NOREPRO with LO 4.4.0.0.beta2 + Ubuntu 14.04

It's always possible there's corruption in the UserProfile:

Hi,

I installed 4.4beta2 and deleted my profile

The problem persists
Comment 8 tommy27 2014-12-10 05:02:51 UTC
bad to hear that Tim.
any chance you can try to reproduce the bug on a different computer?
Comment 9 Tim Lloyd 2014-12-10 20:52:47 UTC
I jumped onto another PC running Fedora 20 which I seldom use this has 4.2.4.1. Print to file - no problem

So I installed 4.4.0.0 beta2 and I can recreate the problem.

Version: 4.4.0.0.beta2
Build ID: be92f32b8f21603a6b7a75dd645f7475bdee519d

When I get time later today I will set up a VM running linux mint and see whether the problem persists
Comment 10 Tim Lloyd 2014-12-14 07:18:07 UTC
Hi, I set up a VM using Linux Mint 17 and LO 4.4.0.0 beta2 with the same problem.

So that is 2 separate computers both running Fedora and 4.4.0.0 beta2 plus a VM running Mint and 4.4.0.0 beta2 all manifesting this problem

No repro here either.

Bizarre, bizarre. Is this a 32bit machine?

Have you ever used bibisect? This tool could be very helpful in aiding you in tracking down when the builds stopped working for you between 4.3.3.2 and 4.4.0.0

But first, please test 4.4.0.2
https://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/

And also a daily build of 4.5-master
http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/

Status -> NEEDINFO

(change status back to UNCONFIRMED after you provide all the info/run the tests. thanks!

I also recommend hopping on IRC: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channel=libreoffice-qa (or using your favorite IRC application).
Comment 15 Tim Lloyd 2015-02-01 20:39:03 UTC
Hi and sorry for the delay...

Well that is interesting. The same problem is apparent with 4.4

Version: 4.4.0.3
Build ID: de093506bcdc5fafd9023ee680b8c60e3e0645d7
Locale: en_AU

However 4.5 is fine

Version: 4.5.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: d1c9bd13ec7af93f5368dfda6d6d3c955f0b0816
TinderBox: Linux-rpm_deb-x86_64@46-TDF, Branch:master, Time: 2015-01-28_01:15:30
Locale: en_AU

I never really got my head around IRC so I'll give that a go and sing out if/when I hit a rock. Similar for bibsect

Questions:
- Testing on a 32bit machine?
- Does it happen when locale is en_US?
- Does it happen with other documents, or just attachment 110472 [details]?
