Created attachment 110492 [details] Sample of Writer document affected by the bug I have a Writer document that includes various Styles (e.g. Heading 1, Heading 2, Text Body, etc.) including numbered lists. When I save the file, close it, and re-open it for further editing, two things happen if I have select the first word(s) of any paragraph to create an Index Entry: -- the preceding paragraph-break is lost, so the second paragraph joins the end of the preceding one, and loses whatever Style it had -- the Index Entry itself is lost If I create Index entries in the middle of a paragraph, I do not suffer these unwanted effects, but they happen consistently when I create and index entry at the beginning of any paragraph. I attach a part of a file to anyone who would like to examine it.
Adolfo Jayme changed the attachment type from "text/plain" to "application/msword" This made me realise that perhaps the bug is due to the way Writer saves documents in Word format. Sure enough, if I save the file as .odt instead of .doc, I do not experience the problems I was having before. I can use .odt for my own editing from now on, but I will still need to be able to save it as a bug-free .doc when I submit it to other readers and my publisher.
What happens if you export your .odt document in ooxml (.docx) format? Set status to NEEDINFO. Please set it back to UNCONFIRMED once you have provided requested informations. Thank you for your understanding. Best regards. JBF
I did as JBF suggested, and when I re-opened the file I did not experience the same problems, so thank you, JBF, for that suggestion. So, although the original bug remains, I now have a satisfactory work-around. Thank you.

Adding Whiteboard:bibisectRequest (it's just possible that this is within the range of the 43all repository - if not, please replace the Whiteboard entry with preBibisect)
This is preBibisect after all. It does however also work in 3.4.6.2
