Created attachment 111368 [details] align center vs align top When an image is changed from another anchor setting to 'As Character' the vertical alignment is always set to align center (.uno:CommonAlignVerticalCenter) resulting in the image appearing centered vertically on the line pushing text above an below it on another lines. Instead, it should be set to align top (.uno:CommonAlignTop) which only pushes text above it, the same way that if you have larger text on a line, it only pushes text above it.

For me it would depend on the specific circumstances (mostly probably at the end of a sentence Base At Bottom, within a sentence Base At Top, for a bulleted list Base in Middle). Therefore, I am also a little bit undecided, but probably I would also prefer Base At Top as a standard. @Jay and Cor: I experienced in this respect another thing. I can't see which alignment is used for the image. For the function ANCHOR I can see it with the dot, but for ALIGNMENT I can't see it. Therefore, I think the used alignment should be highlighted in any way.

The alignment buttons simply set the position of the image according to its margins and you cant think of it the same way that you think of text alignment.

IIRC that is an already older bug: the menu doesn't show which one is currently selected.

Design team was split about whether this change is beneficial or just unneeded. But there was no objection to do it.
