Installed all recommended patches on 12/31/2014

Hello,
in column "B" are not numeric values, but strings. This is not a bug.

Actually calc it's very strict about text conversion in values. Only individual and direct references, if it has only one interpretation are used as values.
It doesn't work for ranges.

What you can do is:
Select the range, then Menu/Data/Text to Column, click on data head and select in column type US English, Ok, this converts the column in their values.
