I was just reading the interview with Kohei Yoshida and decided I must record this long-running bug. I am a 'power user' of Calc's Pivot Table functionality in the sense that I use it extensively to summarise data from large, complex databases; Kohei has done a wonderful job with its functionality! However, there is a really annoying bug that has existed over many versions and I thought I should raise it... When analysing a few thousand rows of data, if I use two FILTER criteria lines (say to restrict a date to >= 1/1/14 AND <= 31/12/14) and then under a ROW pull-down I deselect a few data items everything at first works like a dream. But, if I then delete the FILTER and try to select/de-select data items from the ROW pull-down I get mixed results. To explain: I select/deselect a data item and the check box behaves normally, but then I notice that my output is wrong and when I go back to the pull-down I find that the items I selected or deselected have reverted to their original state. Normal behaviour of these check buttons is now broken. Once this has happened, the only way to get proper functionality back for the ROW pull-down data selection is to re-create the Pivot Table from scratch. My work-around is to create a Pivot Table without a FILTER activated and then duplicate it to another tab. I use the FILTER function on the duplicate Pivot Table which works once and then 'breaks' the ROW pull-down functionality if I delete the FILTER and create a new FILTER. So then I delete the broken Pivot Table tab and make another 'clone' to use from the original Pivot Table without the FILTER. Not great, because I sometimes do a lot of filtering and selection/de-selection of ROW data items to analyse a given set of data; it would be great if I did not have to re-clone the Pivot Table each time. I have googled and not found anyone else experiencing similar problems, so perhaps I am just a big user of this functionality. If I remember correctly, the same problem existed in OpenOffice too. This is a great product and I do hope Kohei can fix this bug. Many thanks, Nick
