Bug still present in current Libre Office Writer Version 5.3.6.1 (x64) on Windows7 64bit.
I don't think it's meant to work like you describe. It works just fine, if you select objects like shapes. So.. this would be kind of an enhancement to the export. Björn: do you have an example of some other application having this feature?
Created attachment 137229 [details] Testpage with few lines of text and some shapes Hi Buovjaga, I tried it on a shape object (see the attached test doc) and also using the export command and select "selection" exported the whole page and not only the one shape, I have had selected. I do not have a app at hand especially offering export to picture of selected parts. But IMHO when you select object(s) and start a task offering the choice to just work on "selection" I would expect this to operate only on the selection. Some Apps also have that behavior when not explicitly limit the action to the current selection. What comes to mind here is Thunderbird: If you get an email and select parts of the original text (maybe just as an reminder on what topic to focus on in the answer) and you hit "reply" -> then only the selected text of the original e-Mail will be kept in the reply.
Ah, apologies: there was actually a recent bug fix to exporting selection. It works with the 6.0 alpha version, but not yet with 5.4.x. You can get the alpha here: https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/
Hi Buovjaga, that's good news, thanks. I will until wait this will be available in a final release.
*** Bug 133669 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Help on export (found with search because F1 doesn't work on that dialog) is https://help.libreoffice.org/7.1/en-US/text/shared/01/01070001.html. It's general but via two links we come to https://help.libreoffice.org/7.1/en-US/text/shared/00/00000200.html which says "When you export graphical elements to a file.." So this may be enhancement, as marked.
