Description Dan Essin 2015-03-24 06:21:47 UTC
When attempting to delete the contents of a cell with the delete key,
- sometimes it works as expected
- sometimes it delete the entire row containing the cell
- sometimes it deletes part of the row and the row above

I can't detect a pattern but it happens more than 50% of the time.

I have stopped using the app. I can't take the risk that I will unexpectedly delete critical data.

I wish I knew how to reproduce the problem but I don't.

Hello Dan,

Thank you for reporting the bug. To be certain the reported issue is not related to corruption in the user profile, could you rename this LibreOffice user directory ( see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Default_location or http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/903/where-are-the-libreoffice-data-profile-files/ ) and re-test? After this set again to Unconfirmed.

I don't observe this behaviour in my daily Calc use / Lo 4.4.1.2, win7.

When you delete data how many cell you have selected? One or more? Do you have autofilter on? What type of file - ods, xls? Try to find some pattern.

Regarding your questions:

1 - the profile: I will test this later when I get to the windows machine. right now I am on a Mac. I haven't exercised it thoroughly but it has worked correctly the few times that I tried to delete and undo.

2 - What was I deleting: the contents of one cell several times and once, six contiguous cells in a single row.

I forgot to mention that when this has occurred, attempting to UNDO the result of the erratic delete ends up deleting more material rather than undoing the previous action.

Let's decrease the importance for the moment since it's not been confirmed yet and waiting for feedback of reporter after LO profile reset.
Comment 4 Dan Essin 2015-03-25 03:53:08 UTC
I've renamed the profile and done some additional testing. The strange behavior has not recurred. I guess that I will keep using it but make frequent backups. If it happens again I will post additional information.

Closing for now. Set to unconfirmed if bug occurs again.
