Version: 4.4.2.2
Build ID: c4c7d32d0d49397cad38d62472b0bc8acff48dd6
Locale : fr_

Not reproducible on OSX 10.10.2

1) Open new Calc sheet
2) Add some text
3) Click on Print Preview
4) Click on Format Page
5) Page formatting options are displayed - no crash.

Please provide a copy of the problematic document.

Setting to NEEDINFO pending further information. Please set to UNCONFIRMED once you have done so.

It could also be a problme specific to your version of OSX or a problem with your LO user profile.

have the same problem under Linux (Opensuse 13.2). It seems to be related to the document (others work fine). No hint what is going wrong. Also completely erasing the sheet does not help. My last changes to the crashing document was clearing print ranges on several tabs. All of a sudden LO becomes unusable !

Peer,
Please attach a sample document, as this makes it easier for us to verify the bug.
I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' once the requested document is provided.

Comment 5 peer.frank 2015-05-13 21:00:21 UTC
raal,

thanks for the link. I heavily "sanitized" the file and it is still crashing LO.
The original is in use since many years and had been revised for 836 times. The problem occured with no apparent changes to LO 4.3.6.2-15.1 which I then updated to 4.4.3.2-1.1 from the obs://build.opensuse.org/LibreOffice repository (which did not fix the problem). It is the first and only file that does this.
The steps: print preview, format page

Thanks for your help!
Comment 6 raal 2015-05-14 06:32:48 UTC
I can confirm crash with LO 4.4.3, win7.

@Peer,
please could you follow the instructions provided at this link < https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugReport/Debug_Information#GNU.2FLinux > and submit a backtrace ? That way a developer can look into the underlying reason of the crash. Thank you.

Now i took a backup and repeated the last changes I remember (clear print range on several sheets at once). Now the file stays healthy and "format print preview" works (as in the last decade). Cannot reproduce how I got stuck. Go figure!
Comment 9 peer.frank 2015-05-28 12:44:47 UTC
still stuck with that problem.
The file (attachment 115576 [details]) has only its first cell filled with text and crashes.
After deleting the content of this cell "print preview/format" works again.
Switching header OFF and re-entering something in the sheet keeps it working.
Switching header ON again "print preview/format" crashes again. see new attachment test2.ods.

another hint when starting via command line:

$ soffice

Warning: failed to read path from javaldx

while "use a java runtime environment" is disabled (options/advanced/java options)
Comment 12 peer.frank 2015-05-29 07:35:01 UTC
workaround:
add an empty sheet, edit header (print preview/format page) from there only.

The LibreOffice requires lighter specs than the MS Office. The major thing is that the product is free of cost on https://www.resumehelpservices.com/dragonresume-com-review/ and I think this should be highlighted for this generosity of the company.
