I believe I'm able to reproduce this bug but could you provide a bit more info and maybe a screenshot of where your mouse pointer is at when the bug happens?

I've attached what it looks like on my end and what I think you mean.

Also please move this back to UNCONFIRMED once you provide the extra info. Thank you.

I just downgraded to Version: 4.3.6.2 and now I can highlight and change font color as expected.

I wonder, if this has the same root cause as the problem detected by the i3 community: bug 90155
The main dev of i3 says in a detailed comment that it's LibO's fault.

It's changing you just can't see it - it's something about profiles. Reported already and I attached my profile.

This is quite serious so we hopefully can get confirmation and move it forward.

@David - reset your profile and it'll work

I just recreated my user profile as suggested and the problem still persists.

Observed: Drop down list does not appear so that you can even attempt to change colors using the toolbar.

Using the contextual menus it is possible to change font color.

Version: 4.4.2.2

This gives more weight to my suspicion that this is the same as bug 90155

Reproduced with elementary OS 0.3 Freya & LibO 4.4.2.

Not reproduced with Kubuntu 15.04 & LibO 4.4.2.
