Layout of pages for brochure printing

Hello,

When printing with brochure layout, Writer adds blank pages when it should not. This is with a document that has a First page (page style), followed by a page style of "Default Style" which has alternate footer style (unchecked same content left/right). The inserted three blank pages are between the first page and the second page.

I've uploaded a sample document.

Thank you for developing Libreoffice.

All the best,

Shem Pasamba

I didn't reproduced it like described. I got 6 pages, 1 blank after 1st page.
Please attach the PDF you get from Print to PDF.

(In reply to Timur from comment #2)

Yes, it really produced 6 pages, were it should have been 5 pages in the output. The "3" extra pages that I mentioned translates to 1.5 extra pages in the output.

There' sth. strange with this file, it has manual breaks. How was it created?
When you report a bug, it should be clear whether a problem can be recreated from scratch or it's related to some particular file.
Brochure works if document is created with simple page breaks, just using First Page for the 1st page and Default Style that's switched on automatically.

Here's a video of how I created it: https://youtu.be/MEb5mJB9_74 I think you need to add up to 7 pages to make the bug show up.
Comment 7 Timur 2016-04-05 10:03:07 UTC
Yes, I know how you created it, with manual breaks. But, it doesn't matter, I confirm this but only with more pages, 5, it was OK with 3. Same happens without changing page number.
Looks like inherited from OO. Note for readers: use File-Print-Page Layout-Brochure.

What about the setting : Tools > Options > Writer > Pint .. Automatically insert blank pages ??
Comment 9 Shem Pasamba 2017-02-04 12:26:56 UTC
Tools > Options > Writer > Print .. Automatically insert blank pages checked or unchecked still produces this bug.

No changes in 6.3+ with new print dialog.

Dear Shem Pasamba,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa
