With the Option Tools->Compatibility "Use printer metrics for document formatting" checked, renders the writer the Frutiger font and text cursor correctly. If the option is disabled, the character spacing is wrong. The cursor is also drawn in the wrong place.
The rendering of Frutiger LT 45 LightItalic does not depend on the option.

Can you reproduce the same problem with any font that is not commercial?
Comment 2 benny 2015-06-21 13:42:26 UTC
Sorry for the late response. Currently I see this behavior only for the Frutiger LT45 Light. The font is correctly rendered by other programs like scribus.

@benny
are you still facing this kind of issue using latest 5.2.3 release?
once you answer set it back to UNCONFIRMED if issue is still present or WORKSFORME if it's gone.
Comment 4 benny 2016-12-16 07:44:52 UTC
Yes
Libre Office Version 5.2.3.3 (Latest from repository)
Comment 5 Buovjaga 2016-12-16 17:02:58 UTC
I know it's a bit silly to ask to test with an even newer version, but 5.3 (still in beta) has got a new font layout engine.. so it would be interesting to hear, if the problem went away.

If using a distro with .deb packges: http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/deb/x86_64/LibreOfficeDev_5.3.0.0.beta2_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz

If using a distro with .rpm packges http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/rpm/x86_64/LibreOfficeDev_5.3.0.0.beta2_Linux_x86-64_rpm.tar.gz

I replaced the Frutiger Font with the new version of the Font. This solved the rendering problem. It seems that LibreOffice couldn't correctly the older version.

Probably a bug in Frutiger that they fixed :) Let's close.
