The new Start Center icons are not proportional among themselves - the upper folder icons should IMHO in height correspond to the width of LO-component icons (Writer, Calc, ..., Templates). Now the folder icons have a bigger area and are as such proposed to be of higher importance and/or usability ... IMHO, they should be made "equal" in a graphical way (either by reducing a bit the size of folder icons or getting the component icons a bit bigger).
Not seeing it, both the new Breeze (master/5.1.0), as well as the Tango based icons are appropriately sized. The folder motifs are in landscape, while the "document" icon for each component are in portrait layout. They are proportional and all fit correctly within their defined GTK button. Don't see any issues.
The sizing around items is increased in Breeze because the icons Andreas committed are 48 × 48. (In contrast, Tango icons are 32 × 32). He felt [1] that 32 × 32 icons were too small (which I do not think is the case, but...). Hi I use the app icons [2] of the LibreOffice apps and the minimum size is 48x48px. I know that the original size of this icons is 32x32px but than I can't use the app icons [2], than I have to use mimetype icons [1] and I would prefer the app icons because you start the app with the icon.
