When I select text to be deleted using either the cursor or F8, the text will be highlighted for approximately one to two seconds, then deselct. Often, I cannot again select the text, using either the cursor or F8. The program simply won't do anything with regard to selecting text until after I again type some text. The frustration is that I can take the same document, use Open Office rather than Libre Office, and the editing works fine. I understand the programs are almost identical. Perhaps a minor issue exists in Libre Office. Thanks. Love the suite.
Reproduced, but only with the F8 method. Actually, only in Linux the selection got deselected by itself. All versions had the problem of not being able to select anything after doing a selection with F8 and deselecting. I had to close the document, writing more text didn't help. This bug is not fully clear. Reporter didn't specify Win/Lin. In my tests Win 7 and Lin Fedora 27, text doesn't deselect and F8 works. Esc stops it. Local help for F8 points to "Selection Mode" and says "extended selection". https://help.libreoffice.org/6.1/en-US/text/shared/02/20050000.html?DbPAR=SHARED#bm_id3148668 If you disagree, please set back to New and explain.
Yep, no problem now. Also tried with gtk3 backend. Arch Linux 64-bit Version: 6.1.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: 09cb65bb92318bf8edb467fcd7720f072306f379 CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 4.15; UI render: default; VCL: kde4; Locale: fi-FI (fi_FI.UTF-8); Calc: group Built on February 15th 2018
