Created attachment 117346 [details] screenshot I changed a value on [Compare documents] of [Tools-Options-LibreOffice Writer-Comparison] from 'Auto' to 'By character'. But when I restarted the Writer, the value had returned to original state (Auto).
Confirmed for LibreOffice 5.0.1.0+ built at home under Ubuntu 15.04 x86-64 with gcc 5.1. Setting as NEW.
** Please read this message in its entirety before responding ** To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present on a currently supported version of LibreOffice (5.1.5 or 5.2.1 https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the version of LibreOffice and your operating system, and any changes you see in the bug behavior If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a short comment that includes your version of LibreOffice and Operating System Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to "inherited from OOo"; 4b. Still reproducible in LO 5.2.3.0+ and current master, both built at home under Ubuntu 16.04 x86-64. In fact I am not sure if this behavior is wrong. Could it be meaning that this configuration change is applicable only for the current comparison ? set status back to unconfirmed. Best regards. JBF
set status to NEEDINFO is this a bug or a feature? :-)
In my view it is a bug, because it is different to all other options, where the settings doesn't change after restarting LibreOffice. Therefore I'd propose to set to NEW. An additional problem is, that there is also no HELP-page (reported in bug 71154)
So this feature was introduced in 3.6 and acts this same way from then, so lets see if our veterans (Cor, Regina, Maxim) can give their input on how this is supposed to work, and lets get a help page added about this feature.
I thinks it's a bug
Duplicate of bug 71153?
(In reply to Dieter Praas from comment #8) > Duplicate of bug 71153? Looks so. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 71153 ***
This bug has more input/work in it, so lets keep this open and close the older one as a duplicate.
