1. start open office writer 2. type some text 3. (do not click on save) 3. (after some time), backup file is created in backup dir, with extension .odt 4. after exiting program, without saving file (do you wish to save file - no), backup file is deleted. expected result -backup file is not deleted reason -people sometimes absent-mindedly click on no, and lose their work. There could be another option in the options/load save: 'make backup of files that are not saved' so people can turn this on if they want. Thanks.

I strongly disagree, I see at least 2 issues if backup files are not discarded: 1/ privacy issue: what do you think if a copy of your discarded files is conserved without you know / remember that? 2/ spamming issue: not discarded backup files will fill your HD and make your LO user profile bigger each day and becoming harder to backup (Ok, I know, nobody make backups...). We already have 1/ and 2/ with backup files associated with files manually discarded by the user. I think we should not duplicate this hidden problems. I think it is the problem of the user to think before doing something irreversible. Closing as NotABug. Best regards. JBF
