Description Jacques 2015-08-03 14:16:20 UTC
Version: 4.4.4.3
Build ID: 2c39ebcf046445232b798108aa8a7e7d89552ea

Document view does not position content properly in the canvass/view - i.e. documents created in previous version, not docx that do not display properly.
Some documents: left margin beyond left view boundary; other far right.
Those on left remain static - can see first few columns.
Those on right, I have to drag content to left to see in view.

Hi @Jacques, thanks for reporting.

Please could you attach a sample file with the issue?, and this case would be also good a screenshot demonstrating the problem.

Empty viewport

Empty viewport screenshot: When the file is opened, the actual document displays far off to the right. so the viewport is empty.
In the next screenshot, see how far one has to scroll to see the document.

Scroll horizontally to get document inside viewport

This screenshot shows how one has to scroll in order to get the document to display within the viewport.

This screenshot shows some documents that display two pages horizontally next to one another - as if they are glued. No matter what I do, I cannot separate them to that they display one below the other. BTW, this has nothing to do with the size of the viewport. I deliberately dragged the viewport smaller to show you. Usually, when pages display horizontally next to one another and one reduces the size of the viewport, the documents snap vertically below one another. This no longer happens in 4.4.4.3

I can't remember which file disappeared off to the left-side. But that also happens to some files.

SUGGESTION: in older word processors (e.g. Ami) one could adjust the margin size between the viewport frame and the document display frame. That would be a very useful feature.

I can't see what you see.

But seems something strange with the document.
Appears all in one page without the page break.

Changing e.g. the option in:
Menu/Tools/Options/Writer/View - Ruler - Horizontal/Vertical Unit.
recover the page break.
The same with the option:
Menu/Tools/Options/Writer/Compatibility - Use printer metrics for .....

Can you reproduce the issue with a new document?
Comment 10 Jacques 2015-08-05 14:44:29 UTC
Thanks, but no change.

1. Menu/Tools/Options/Writer/View - Ruler - Horizontal/Vertical Unit.

Was On.
I toggled off -- no change

2. Menu/Tools/Options/Writer/Compatibility - Use printer metrics for .....
Ticked this now - made no difference

3. Can you reproduce the issue with a new document?
Have only created 1-pagers, which display fine.
As soon as I create a multiple pager I will post again.

So perhaps the bug has to do with the display flow of pages.

1.- Please test changing the Unit from Centimeter or whatever is selected to another one.
Comment 12 Jacques 2015-08-05 17:23:43 UTC
Changed from cm to points, no effect.
Changed back again - no effect.

Another thing to try is resetting the user profile, sometimes solves strange issues.

Thanks
Mine has always been empty in previous versions, also in this one.

To test I quickly added some info - nada... :(
Comment 15 m_a_riosv 2015-08-05 18:44:03 UTC
Are you sure?,

with a new installation LibreOffice copies the previous profile if it is one.
Uninstalling the progrom doesn't delete the profile.

Changed to unconfirmed to allow someone else test again.
Comment 16 Jacques 2015-08-05 18:59:54 UTC
Problem solved:
I deleted the user profile as per https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile
-- although I also reverted back to 4.3.5 as I just got too fed-up....

Thanks for your support.
When I have more time to fiddle around I'll up-version again.
