REPORTBUILDER won't open in Design View mode in LibreOffice Base 4 REPORTBUILDER does not save reports designed in Design View in LibreOffice Base 5. Most of report design is lost upon closing the Design View editor regardless of multiple saves. The save button on the toolbar, along with some other buttons, never get enabled.
@Pete : please provide more information, as there is not really enough to go on from what you have provided so far. Which Linux distribution ? Which versions of LibreOffice are you using ? You mention LO4, then you mention LO5 - which one(s) specifically ? Distrib provided or a version available from the LibreOffice project download server ? Which version of the ReportBuilder ? Again, distrib provided (usually a separate install), or bundled in TDF version ? Which JVM version are you using ? Also please provide a sample ODB where the problem exists and instructions on how to systematically reproduce the problem.
No repro on LO : Version: 5.0.2.2 Build ID: 37b43f919e4de5eeaca9b9755ed688758a8251fe Locale : fr-FR (fr_FR.UTF-8) I can create a report ab initio. I can modify an existing report definition in the report builder. I can save that modified report definition and then execute to produce the modified report document.
The only thing I can confirm as reproducible is the lack of activated "Save" button in the toolbar. Although a bug, this can be worked around via File >> Save. Please open a separate report for the lack of activated Save button (vague memory tells me that this was already reported, but go ahead and file a report against it anyway, we'll check for duplicates later).
This isn't a valid bug-description: One bug - one bugreport. Version of LO and system you are using. Title of the bug should give a hint which behavior of LO is defect. Saving reports by the button 'Save' of the Report-Builder sometimes seems to be a problem. See here: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88254
Confirm Bug: reportBuilder does not open. Conditions: O.S.: Linux UbuntuGnome 14.04 32bit LO: v.4.4.5.2 rc2 Java: Oracle 1.8 or OpenJDK 1.7 (tried with both, no difference) Description: in LO/Base I defined a database HSQLDB Embedded structure with 5 simple tables and two table in master/detail relation. Report wizard is functioning on simple tables. Report wizard is functioning on complex tables only if report type "static" is declared; if "dynamic" is chosen, report is builded but when run no data are retrived, report is not filled with data. "Create report in Design View" DOES NOTHING. Going on a table, right-mouse/Report (should open Design View report on the table) DOES NOTHING.
What more info may be needed?
(In reply to DiegoM from comment #5) > ... > "Create report in Design View" DOES NOTHING. > Going on a table, right-mouse/Report (should open Design View report on the > table) DOES NOTHING. I reproduce this with LO Debian package 5.0.1. I just installed "libreoffice-report-builder" and it was ok. Since I usually use master sources that I build, I don't know if it's normal behavior or not.
One hint: Ubuntu doesn't install the Report-Builder when choosing LibreOffice Base to install. There must be a special package for Report-Builder. So the reports would only be created by the wizard with the old legacy report-engine. Do you get the packages from Ubuntu or from LibreOffice directly?

Could be you detected a special bug for this packages. Orginal packages from LO have only one package for the report-builder: libobasis4.4-extension-report-builder_4.4.5.2-2_i386.deb Please report to Ubuntu Report-Builder won't open in design-view. Please install the original packages from LO. You could get this packages from here: http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/4.4.5.2/deb/x86/ You could install the whole LO as a user-install, so no super-user-rights are needed for it and no other installation will be affected. Create a folder in your home-directory (for example: "lotest"). Create a folder inside this folder ("install"). Open the shell in this folder and start for i in ../*.deb; do dpkg-deb -x $i . ; done This will look to the upper folder and will install all the content in the subfolder "install". You could start the installed LO from ...install/opt/libreoffice4.4/program/soffice Regards Robert

Will try a custom installation (allready done such before) and report about it. You suggested "Please report to Ubuntu 'Report-Builder won't open in design-view'.". Where should I report such bug? Thanks, diego
> > You suggested "Please report to Ubuntu 'Report-Builder won't open in > design-view'.". Where should I report such bug? > Hi Diego, I think this would be the entry: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs I don't use Ubuntu. Have only tested a little bit with Ubuntu/Kubuntu a long time ago. Have only installed OpenSUSE 64bit rpm Linux. Regards Robert
@Pete : please provide the requested information.
(In reply to DiegoM from comment #11) > > OK, Robert. > Will try a custom installation (allready done such before) and report about > it. > @Diego : your problem is different to the one Pete initially reported - if it is not an Ubuntu PPA specific problem, please open a separate bug report in this bugzilla. If your problem is an Ubuntu specific PPA problem, then open a bug report on Ubuntu's own bug reporting platform.

I did install LO 4.4.5.2 32bit downloaded from TDF/LO site; this was done without removing the ppa installation. Forcing start from /opt/libreoffice4.4/program/soffice. After opening the odb, Reportbuilder is starting normally. For me the item is solved, will try to report it to Ubuntu ppa bug platform. tnks, diego

PPA distribution is still based on 2 packages ReportBuilder + ReportBuilder-bin, but now RBuilder does open and behave regulary. diego
