Description Sjoerd 2015-10-16 09:07:17 UTC
Short version:
I have some cell references from one .ods file to another.
They broke!

Full details:
The links have always worked fine, but since my Mac OS-X upgrade to El Capitan, LibreOffice would no longer start. Therefore I switched to LibreOffice Vanilla from the Mac AppStore, which is currently at version 5.0.2.2.
Now LibreOffice starts and seems to mostly work, except that all my external references broke!

Example of a cell definition with external link:
  =B3 + 'file:///Users/sjoerd/Dropbox/Talsma ICT/Financieel/2015/Talsma ICT 2015 Q3.ods'#$SEP15.D3

This cell is defined in the file 'file:///Users/sjoerd/Dropbox/Talsma ICT/Financieel/2015/Talsma ICT 2015 Q4.ods' on the tab OKT15.
The files are linked from Q1 -> Q2 -> Q3 -> Q4 for keeping yearly totals.

Opening the file pops up the dialog with "Dit bestand bevat koppelingen naar andere bestanden. Wilt u deze bijwerken? Ja / Nee", which in English means something like: "This file contains links to other files. Do you wish to update these? Yes / No".

Clicking Ja (or Yes) , I get: "Algemene in-/uitvoerfout bij toegang tot /Users/sjoerd/Dropbox/Talsma ICT/Financieel/2015/Talsma ICT 2015 Q1.ods.", which in English means something like: "General input/outputerror accessing <FILENAME>".

Since the issue started after my OS-X upgrade, I do not know whether this is a problem in LibreOffice 5.0.2.2 in general, or with LibreOffice Vanilla in the AppStore.

Obviously, I checked the existence and location of all the linked files and their accessibility. No issues there, they can all be accessed fine.

We need a test file that shows this problem. We actually need one that *has not been saved with 5.0.2.2* so that we can see the file prior to any saving with 5.0.2.2

Marking as NEEDINFO - once you attach a file please set to UNCONFIRMED. Thanks.

Note: A file that has already been saved with 5.0.2.2 will not help us diagnose the issue as the file itself will be overwritten with new data (and perhaps the new external link)

Joel,

Thank you for the comment.
However, I am affraid I cannot provide any document containing links from pre-5.0.2.2 versions. This is because, like I explained, those versions no longer start up on my system (Mac OS-X El Capitan).

Also I cannot provide you with the original document from my backups, since this file contains a quartely financial administration which I am not allowed to share unfortunately.

Then we can't do anything with this bug report. Sorry, if we can't confirm the issue, we definitely can't fix it. We need a test document. Closing as INVALID - please don't reopen without giving us some kind of a test document that we can confirm the issue. Thanks

I'm sorry too.

I just noted that the links _do_ work if I have all the linked files open in LibreOffice (so opening Q1, then Q2, then Q3 without closing any of them) allows me to correctly open (and update links in) the Q4 document.

Attempting to open Q2 first immediately gives me the linking errors.

Just thought I'd add this additional info in case someone else runs also into this issue...
