Created attachment 119759 [details] autof-sample-ods1 (sample ods sheet) Sorry, but my LO is in Italian language, so I cannot show all in English (attachments are in Italian). Defining (adding ) a new AutoFormat I get a result not matching my sample sheet (see attach. "autof-sample-ods1" and "autof-add1" where I have just added the format named "test"). And, consequently, applying that format to another sheet (sample-ods2) I don't get the result I wished to get, that is the format alike sample-ods1 (see attach. "autof-sample-ods2", "autof-app1" and "autof-app2").

Hi @gmarco, thanks for reporting. I think not a bug but a limitation to: - Row title. - Column title. - Row total. - Column total. - Up 2 types for intermediate rows/columns.
(In reply to m.a.riosv from comment #5) Hi, thanks for replying. I think yours is a simple supposition. Even assuming that the sample-based data is limited to 3x3 data cells (over the columns/rows for titles/total), why the column "Mar" (D in the sample ods) is blue instead of yellow?
Hi Gmarco - I'm sorry but it's really hard to tell what this bug is about - it's not easy to follow 5 attachments to determine the problem. Please describe the issue in the comment (vs. saying "look at the 5 attachments) as clear as possible, preferably not in paragraphs but enumerated: 1. Open File.ods 2. Do X 3. Do Y 4. .... Expected Result: Observed Result: This makes it 10x easier on our limited QA volunteer time to look at the issue and try to figure out if it's a bug, enhancement, or neither. Marking as NEEDINFO - once you clarify the issue in the comment please set to UNCONFIRMED. As far as the Italian language - if possible please describe which menus to push on in English - if that's an issue, please head to your locales mailing list and ask for help translating. Thanks a million!

Hi Gmarco - No problem but I'm still unclear at what I'm looking for. Can you describe in enumerated steps and point me to exactly what I'm looking for in this pdf. Thanks
Created attachment 119944 [details] autoformat documentation (In reply to Joel Madero from comment #10) Hi Joel You have to point in step 12 the resulting sheet after applying the autoformat "test" previously created and stored s pattern. Here you can see that the cell are formatted (coloured) differently from the original sheet "ods1" used as specimen in creating the autoformat "test" in steps 1-8. (warning: I have replaced the pdf)

I'm not sure, if it's like m.a.riosv said that there is some (undocumented) limitation. I haven't really used the feature. I did a different test: I created an Autoformat in autof-sample-ods1 like this: Select B2:G11. With this, the colors went: blue, red, yellow, red, blank. So why no orange & green?? We have to find some autoformat guru. Win 7 Pro 64-bit, Version: 5.0.2.2 (x64) Build ID: 37b43f919e4de5eeaca9b9755ed688758a8251fe Locale: fi-FI (fi_FI)

So why no orange > & green?? > > We have to find some autoformat guru. > Hi Beluga, I too tried your test, it may be a "quite" good solution. Nevertheless, if you apply that autoformat to autof-sample-ods2 (selecting B2:F8) the result is col.E red instead of orange. Undoubtedly we need a guru to know which is the LO issue and it would be adjusted appropriately both help and guide: aside other inadequacies, it is needed to exactly clarify which cells we have to select: actually I read (into guide PF1 searching for Autoformat) "scegliete modifica-seleziona tutto" (= choice edit-select all) and (into help) "a range of at least 4x4 cells".
m.a.riosv is correct in Comment#5 it is a limitation, making this an enhancement request rather then a bug. As often is the case, the documentation could be improved, but it's hard to write good documentation. (In reply to gmarco from comment #6) > (In reply to m.a.riosv from comment #5) ... > Even assuming that the sample-based data is limited to 3x3 data cells (over > the columns/rows for titles/total), why the column "Mar" (D in the sample > ods) is blue instead of yellow? Read m.a.riosv answer again the sample-base data is limited to 2x2 which is then repeated. That is why Mar is blue like Jan. Enhancing this functionality might be in conflict with adding support for table formats and interoperability with other office suits.

That is why Mar is blue like Jan. > ..... Let me observe again: 1) any limitation may be accepted ... if clearly documented ... but, assuming a 2x2 limit, then the pattern displayed (see attach autof-ods1)would not display col.Mar and row Sud. 2) if you look at Beluga test (comment #13) and my reply, you can see that column range is 3x3(selecting only data cells) and the result is really 3x3 (see attach format-ods2 where the pattern is applied selecting B2/F8 and you can see col.D yellow). 3) further look at attach format-ods3: here, selecting how suggested by Beluga cells B2/J8 and applying the pattern based on test Beluga, you'll see an anomalous result where only col.B is blue while all Others are alternatively red or yellow.

Created attachment 120042 [details] autoform-newtest (screenshot) Happy End (at least, I think!) Taking into due consideration the previous observations I run some further tests. My conclusions are shown in attached "autoform-newtest.JPG" (with associated rules) and in the new sample "autof-newsample-ods". Therefore, there exist logical limitations and rules consequent. So I can consider the issue closed, consequently I modify and mark as notabug. It remains clear, however, the need to complete adequately the documentation (have I to open an enhancement?) Thank you all.

(In reply to gmarco from comment #19) > It remains clear, however, the need to complete adequately the documentation > (have I to open an enhancement?) Open a new documentation report for it. Maybe not necessary to mark as enhancement. Thanks.
