Created attachment 119957 [details] Default Word Chart to illustrate the issue Steps to reproduce: 1. In Word insert a chart and save as docx 2. Open file in Writer 3. Save as the recommended ODF format 4. Close 5. Open and save again 6. Open Note in step 6 the chart has changed from editable chart to a garbled picture. This is especially insidious because it only shows up after the second save. Both the imported file and the first native ODF file appear OK. Excel/Calc files are not affected by this issue. Also if you keep the chart in .docx, you can save and close multiple times without corrupting the file.
After opening the odt in step 5, the chart is no longer a chart, so ideally that should be the focus of this bug. Version: 5.1.0.0.alpha1+ Build ID: 9a85743766e8a063d20d5f93ee88758e243397f4 TinderBox: Linux-rpm_deb-x86_64@70-TDF, Branch:master, Time: 2015-10-23_00:56:39 Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8) LO doesnt show the chart in the docx before 4.2 and with 4.2, the chart is an object which isnt editable.
JP, Yes, it's an object when opened in step 5, but not apparent to the user as the document is still rendered correctly. By step 6, the picture of the chart has been lost and the document is now damaged. Ideally, we fix this so new DOCX charts come in as charts like XLSX->ODS, and existing ODF with these objects continue to display the picture of the chart. Since ODF documents are being corrupted here, shouldn't the priority be bumped?

Yes ideally both problems should be looked into when a dev looks into this. > Since ODF documents are being corrupted here, shouldn't the priority be > bumped? Looking in the odt files in steps 3 and 6, after step 3 you have these files missing after step 3 /Object 1/content.xml /Object 1/meta.xml /Object 1/styles.xml /ObjectReplacements/Object 1 These file must relate to the chart which has gone missing. Priority increased.
Michael is currently working on embedded OOXML objects. Feel free to remove if your recent work isn't related to this problem.

Started in 4.2.0, chart was imported before. Repro in 6.1+ Note in step 5 that chart is not editable after first save so title is proper "ODF - Chart saved as object when saved from .docx." I added (with data table).
Bug started in 4.2.0, because chart was not imported before. So I remove "bibisectRequest, regression". Repro in 6.1+. Note in step 5 that chart is not editable after first save so title is proper "ODF - Chart saved as object when saved from .docx." I added (with data table).
