Created attachment 120164 [details] Original ODP with grouped objects. I grouped two objects together in Impress, one PNG and the other a shape. Saving the presentation in Impress was fine, but when I save it in the PowerPoint 2007-2013 XML (.pptx) format, the objects become separated! This is quite frustrating...
Created attachment 120165 [details] Orignal ODP saved as PPTX, where groups get separated.
Also, this problem appears to be cross platform. I see it under Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux distributions.
not a new bug. I confirm it under Win8.1 x64 using LibO 5.1.0.0 alpha, 5.0.3.1 and 4.4.0.3 releases. did not have time to test in older LibO versions. it would be interesting to see if it ever worked or not. here's a collection of old LibO versions in portable package. http://sourceforge.net/projects/winpenpack/files/X-LibreOffice/releases/ please give a try to see if this is a regression bug or it's always been like that
When opening the pptx in 3.3.4, objects are not grouped either. (And the shape is mal formed) So not a new problem. Thanks for the clear example file!

Looks like this is an old bug!

Objects remain grouped when saved with LO 6.0.0.3 / Windows 7. Assuming issue is fixed, let's close this as WORKSFORME.
