Description Yousuf Philips (jay) (retired) 2015-11-03 21:32:17 UTC
Steps:
1) Open Writer
2) Insert an image
3) Add an imagemap (Edit > ImageMap) with a square area and link it libreoffice.org
4) Move the mouse over the image until the link tooltip appears
5) Pressing Ctrl doesnt turn the drag hand mouse pointer into the click mouse pointer and Ctrl and mouse click doesnt launch the link

Works for me in LO 5.0.2.2, win7
Check option “LibreOffice > Security > Options... > Ctrl-click required to follow hyperlinks“

Already checked. This issue doesnt happen with opened documents, it happens with newly created documents.

I can not confirm with Version: 5.1.0.0.alpha1+

newly created document.

No repro. Pressing ctrl and hovering turns the pointer into hand and I am able to click.

Tested master on a different machine (Linux Mint 17.2 Mate) then the one i opened the bug with (Linux Mint 17.1 XFCE) and it also shows the same result.

Isn't the difference that Jay you tried when the image was selected, and the others tried when it wasn't selected?

I can reproduce this if the image is selected with 5.2.3.3 & 5.3 daily build / Windows 7, even with the attached document. If the image is selected, cursor turns into a four-headed arrow (the equivalent of a drag hand), and Ctrl-clicking the image does nothing.

Not entirely sure if it should, but then in that case the tooltip shouldn't be displayed if the image is selected. What do you guys think?

Btw, the tooltip is refreshed rather badly with lots of flickering/disappearance if OpenGL is enabled.
Comment 7 Buovjaga 2016-11-21 19:56:02 UTC
Good catch. Indeed, when the image is selected, the tooltip appears, but ctrl-clicking leads nowhere.

It is a good philosophical question whether we need to remove the tooltip or allow ctrl-clicking to work.

As a first time user of ImageMap (but 12yrs+ using OOo & LO!), this behaviour was not surprising to me- although it could be improved. Suggest considering this as an Enhancement request and considering the UX further.

Perhaps remove tooltip when selected for editing... but then there is *no* indication the ImageMap operation was successful (which is helpful).

Dear Yousuf Philips (jay) (retired),

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team
