I have an Excel spreadsheet with a few filters, six columns (two date/time, the rest is text) and ~3200 rows. Performance is very sluggish bordering on unusable. I've seen spreadsheets with tens of thousands of rows in it that need to be worked on. Calc seems not to be up to the task for that. I will see to updating this report with a sample file after finishing my work and removing any proprietary information.
After opening a spreadsheet with similar data but only 57 rows the performance issues were still there. So it is not a matter of the amount of data. The only thing that might gunk up the works are the column data filters. Even the ones from LO (auto filter) seem not to work right, at least what sorting ascending and descending is concerned.
Setting this to invalid because using the most current version drastically improved the performance issues. Asc/desc filter sorts still don't work, but that might have been reported already and should go into a new bug report. Sorry!
