database (odb)

Dates cannot always be stored within the attached database.
I also checked the Control Panel > Regional settings of my operating system, which is Windows 2007 Server, but could not find an indication that the date format is inherited from the operating system, so LibreOffice base appears to have a logic of its own on date format.

As an example to highlight this concern, that I am not sure has been reported, see the PEP table and see the LastUpdated field on row 62/63.
Even though the format has been edited, the table still shows the date in short date format i.e. dd/mm/yy.

See the following

@Jonathan : The lastupdated field of PEP has a default US locale in the table view mode. If I change this to FR (my working language), the date format gets converted accordingly to the long date ISO format for France, dd/mm/yyy. If I then save the database again, quit LO, restart it and reload the ODB file, the date format of the lastupdated field is still in FR ISO long format.

My tests were done on OSX 10.11.1 with LO 5022.

Which version of LibreOffice locale are you using ? Are you using any lanugage packs ?

Isn't this the same as Bug 95412?
Seems the field is wrong formatted.
