Created attachment 120753 [details] An ODS file with a simple conditional formatting test in it Am using Linux Mint 17.2. Had the standard Libreoffice packaged with Mint and noticed this problem. Downloaded and installed LibreOffice5 and can confirm problem still exists. Easy to see at my end in this ODS file or any I can make, just enter data in some cells and then do a conditional format on them. Totally not functional. Alas.

raal, thanks. Too a while to work out what you meant. But including the quotes seems necessary and is in fact hinted at when you enter a string without quotes by a comment beneath the rule that reads "Strings without quotes are interpreted as column/row labels". Thanks for your triage.
