Very often, When Calc opens, it presents a big black bar on the right and another black bar on the low side of the UI that covers sheets tabs and status bar.
The same opening Impress but NOT opening Writer.

The issue is present either with open (radeon) and proprietary ATI (fglrx) graphic drivers.

The issue is not always present.

OS: Xubuntu, DE: Xfce4,

Fixed for 5.0.4.

In the meantime you can workaround this by removing the libreoffice-gtk3 package.
