The menu shortcuts differs a lot between 4.4 and 5.0 which really sucks if You change between versions and You got used to speed up the working process by using these shortcuts. Here some of them, I use very often: Before 5.0: --------------------------------------------------------- ALT-F-P-O - optimal column width "Spalte" in german, easy to remember the "P" ALT-F-L-O - optimal row height "Zeile" in german, an "L" is there too ALT-T-S - sort "Sortieren" in german After 5.0: --------------------------------------------------------- ALT-F-L-O - optimal column width It switched its use with "optimal row height", which is worse then just a new shortcut ALT-F-I-O - optimal row height The old shortcut does something really unexpected. ALT-T-I - sort Another break for me. Usually I use "optimal column width" and "sort" after one another and it really sucks, if I do that with LOo 5.0.3. I just reported my often used shortcuts here, I am sure others have similar problems.
Sorry, don't see an issue here, the UI has changed. So? Also, please be sure to check out a current build of master, or the 5.1beta and consolidate cataloging of any UI menu issues to include the major rework that has occurred there. Some of the shortcuts are accelerators rather than short cuts, and are assigned during the i18n localization & translation process. Please be clear about which your are commenting on. The distinction is this: Shortcuts -- (global and module specific) have defaults but can be adjusted with the Tools -> Customize: Keyboard tab. Accelerators -- are only exposed in Expert Configuration and are set by the translators.
Sorry for my bad english. I am just a user using LO in german. But You understood what I meant and that's good enough. The issue is the break in the UI without a technical reason. That's at least bad programming or ignoring the users U work for. What else could I do other then reporting a bug. So it's the accelerator's that changed. Good that U know how to fix it. For Ur info. 5.1.0.0-beta2 is even worse. Optimal column width and optimal row height are still mixed up, but the hit is that ALT-T-whatever is not usable now, because "-T-" is used twice in "Tabellen" and "Daten" now. It's getting better and better...
Well, suspect it is going to be a localization issue. @Sophie, Andras -- thoughts.
I just installed 4.4.7 and its the same as in 5.0 which means a break within the 4.4 series. Bad style, if U ask me.
@Stuart: I'll contact the de_DE l10n team and report back. @Norbert: be sure that it's not done on purpose, our volunteers are working hard to bring you these versions fully translated, mistakes might happen though, and thanks for reporting. Sophie
In the process of solving double accelerators (in the menu "Format" has been minimum 3 double accelerators and 2 entries have been added too) there were several changes necessary to find unused accelerators (in addition several menu entries are used in Writer, Draw or Chart too and mus be considered). I can understand your anger about changing accelerators. But such changes can't be avoided to solve duplicate accelerators. So I change the status to NOTABUG (because it is a feature).
I understand the necessity, that some accelerators need to be changed to avoid doubles, but now I gave 5.1.2 a try and all 3 accelerators I used as examples changed again! The second change in between some months. 5.1.2: --------------------------------------------------------- ALT-F-P-B - optimal column width "Spalte" in german, easy to remember the "P" ALT-F-I-H - optimal row height "Zeile" in german, an "L" is there too ALT-N-O - sort "Sortieren" in german
Additional accelerator changes which lets me go back to 5.0.5: 5.1.2: --------------------------------------------------------- ALT-F-P-B - optimal column width "Spalte" in german, easy to remember the "P" I just noticed that this doesn't work because the last B is used twice! ALT-F-I-H - optimal row height "Zeile" in german, an "L" is there too Same here the last H is used twice!
