bad result obtained when all sheets are printed at once
Comment 4 GUTH Christophe 2015-12-01 14:36:44 UTC
Hello,

I've noticed a strange behaviour when i am printing all sheets at once on a printer (brother hl-3150cdw in color mode - duplex printing).

When i open the document, and selected all sheets, then print it on the printer, i obtain good résult for all pages except for the result joined (as bad result).

When i open the document, and select only the sheets 6463AM_debut, 6463AM_calcul and 6463AM_fin (the three sheets are parts of a unique form for administrations), and print them with the same parameters (same printer, same color mode and duplex printing), i obtain the good result joined.

Strange thing : when i print all sheets on a virtual printer (PDF Creator 1.6 in my case), i obtain the good result for the sheet 6463AM_debut.

I tested it on differents computers :
an Intel Core i3 with 4Gb of ram and windows 7 64 bits and LibreOffice 5.0.2.3,
an Athlon 2600Xp with 2Gb of ram and windows XP 32 bits and LibreOffice 5.0.2.3,
an Intel Pentium 4 with 2Gb of ram and windows XP 32 bits and LibreOffice 5.0.2.3,
an virtual windows XP with 2Gb of ram (under VirtualBox, Intel Core i7 with 8Gb of ram) and LibreOffice 5.0.2.3.
the Athlon 2600Xp with 2Gb of ram and Windows XP 32 bits and LibreOffice 4.4.6.3 (the same computer as above after removing LibreOffice 5.0.2.3 and replacing it with LibreOffice 4.4.6.3)

What may cause this behaviour

bad result when printed on pdf creator virtual printer
Comment 6 GUTH Christophe 2015-12-01 14:42:32 UTC
Hello,

I've said that print to a virtual printer worked fine, but in fact, it doesn't work fine.

I've just added an attachement (i intended to join a good result in pdf for example), but LibreOffice 5.0.2.3 give a bad result when printed directly on pdf creator virtual printer (as you can see in attachements)

So, it's not related to the printer but really related to LibreOffice.

Thanks

Sorry, what is the bad result?
Comment 8 GUTH Christophe 2015-12-02 06:45:31 UTC
The bad result is visible on the "bad result obtained when all sheets are printed once" in attachments (the good result is in the first attachement "good result when printing only three sheets at once"). Theses attachements where printed and then, scanned to show the differences.

in summary:

- some dashed lines are displaced between the two prints (above "Commune", under "HAGUENAU", in the frames reserved for administrations in the bottom of the page (above "Références listes MAJIC 2" etc.)

- the office stamp is displaced between the two examples (it should be under the text "Cachet")

When printed in Pdf Creator virtual printer, I got sometimes (not always) a bad result (example in PDF on page 7, and in page 10 where two dashed lines are displaced).

The PDF was obtained by printing with "All Sheets" checked on print dialog.

This occurs only when printing more than 3 sheets at once (in particular when printing all sheets at once, but it seems not to occur when i print only 3 sheets at once).

The sheets where it occurs are sheets containing pictures (like the office stamp), or drawing elements (lines and shapes). I hadn't noticed differences on the sheets containing only cells (pages 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12 and 13 are not affected).

I think that all attachments are there to see the problem. It's a difference between the document and the result obtained when printed and it's not systematic (only when all sheets are printed in one File / Print command)

Thanks

Ok, I have see know. It's visible with the print preview.

The issue can be seen for the sheet "6463AM_debut" all draw objects are misplaced.

After a lot of trials, I have seen that clearing the "Row to repeat" (Menu/Format/Print ranges/Edit) for the sheet "6463_pva_derniere page" solves the issue.

Hi,

I'll change my model to check if it solves it for the moment, but it can be usefull for users if LibO could place graphics elements correctly when "Row to repeat" is set.

Users may need to have graphics elements with some Row to repeat (long documents with a stamp on last cell for example).

Thanks

example 2 as it should be printed

scan of example 2 printed by group of sheets
- "requete_LF" printed alone
- "6463_pva_entete", "6463_pva_interieur" and "6463_pva_derniere_page" printed together in single File / Print command
- "6463AM_debut", "6463AM_calcul" and "6463AM_fin" printed together in single File / Print command.

printed on color and duplex mode

the result seems ok but page 12 is not ok (the two lines should be just under the text "à , le")

example 2 printed all sheets at once single side

this is the scan for example 2 with one File/print command (checking the "Print all sheets") and printed in color / single sided on the same printer.

pages 1 and 2 are ok
page 3 : the office stamp is misplaced (it disapeared in fact)
pages 4 to 8 are ok
page 9 : the office stamp and all lines are misplaced
pages 10 to 11 are ok
page 11 : the two lines are misplaced (correct in vertical position, but not on horizontal position)

example 2 printed all sheets at once duplex printing

this example is example 2 file printed in color in duplex mode.

you can notice :
page 1 : the office stamp is misplaced (it appears in page 2)
page 2 : the background picture is misplaced (as of single side printing) and the office stamp should be on page 1
page 3 : no office stamp
pages 4 to 8 are ok
page 9 office stamp and all lines are misplaced
pages 10 to 11 are ok
page 12 the lines are misplaced

Hello, after your answer, i've cleared the "Row to Repeat" where they arent needed, but it doesn't solve the problem.

I'va posted four new attachments ("Lo file example 2", "example 2 as it should be printed", "example 2 printed all sheets at once single side", and "example 2 printed all sheets at once duplex printing")

As you can see, the problem isn't solved.

The result depends :
- on the number of pages printed
- the presence of graphic objects (pictures and lines in this case)
- the way it is printed (single sided or duplex)

For office needs, it should print as close as possible than the LO document (for a WYSIWYG office suite, to avoid excessive use of paper / toner and time to obtain a good result when printing), even if the document is complex.

I used this model of document in Apache OpenOffice 3.4.1 and my coworkers didn't notice this strange behaviour.

Thanks

pdf exported for all selected sheets

With comment#9 I have marked the bug as new.

Perhaps the option Menu/Tools/Options/LibreOffice calc/Print - Always apply manual breaks, that doesn't exist in OOo, makes a difference.

Attached the pdf exported from your file in comment#11 without any change. If not for you pls test the commented option.

Please don't overwhelm with more comments, except if you find something that is the source of the issue.

example 2 with option activated

After checking File / Tools / LibreOffice Calc / Print / always print manual breaks, the result seems fine except the two lines on the last page (I've annotated the scan joined).

The problem seems to be related in rendering with automatic page breaks (I don't use manual page breaks)

Thanks
