The Slovenian Edit menu

Using 5.1.0.1 RC1 and Slovenian (sl) localization which is 100 % localized in RC1 (not using Pootle).

The "Design Mode" command in the Writer's Edit menu is in English.

Searching through po files of 51RC1 I cannot see that command/string, even with all variations of positions of "_" and "~" inside that string, so it is probably just hard-coded. There is however command "Design Mode" in /officecfg/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/UI.po with code:
#. RmQXs
#: GenericCommands.xcu
msgctxt ""
"GenericCommands.xcu\n"
"..GenericCommands.UserInterface.Commands..uno:SwitchControlDesignMode\n"
"ContextLabel\n"
"value.text"

But that one is localized into Slovenian (so it should show up) and the menu shows an English entry, so this is probably not the one shown.

Attaching the screenshot.

I am using OSX 10.11.1. Please confirm with other languages and OS'.
Comment 1 Martin Srebotnjak 2015-12-18 00:47:25 UTC
Just found more and more menu entries in Writer:
- at the bottom of Insert menu there is unlocalized "Form Control" submenu item;
- in the Format menu there is unlocalized "Text Box and Shape" submenu item;
- in the new Styles menu there is unlocalizable "Text Body" command;

In Calc I cannot see any in main menu.

In Impress:
- in Insert menu two unlocalizable items: "Points" and "Design Mode"
- in View menu there is one: "Modes Tab Bar"
- in Insert: "Form Control"
- in Format: "Object and Shape"
- in Slide: "Navigate" and "Move" submenu titles;

In Draw:
- in Edit: "Points"

In Base there seems to be no problems.

I remember localizing all these strings and can find them as localized, unfuzzy in po files.

For example, I can find "Text Box and Shape" in /officecfg/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/UI.po, it is localized, but localized string is not shown in the menu:
#. siBLx
#: WriterCommands.xcu
msgctxt ""
"WriterCommands.xcu\n"
"..WriterCommands.UserInterface.Commands..uno:FormatObjectMenu\n"
"Label\n"
"value.text"
msgid "~Text Box and Shape"
msgstr "~Polje z besedilom in lik"

All these changes are from the last 2 weeks, so probably the RC1 build is using outdated files.

Hi,

In Dutch:

(In reply to miles from comment #1)

> - at the bottom of Insert menu there is unlocalized "Form Control" submenu
> item;

Not localized?

> - in the Format menu there is unlocalized "Text Box and Shape" submenu item;

Localized.

> - in the new Styles menu there is unlocalizable "Text Body" command;

Localized.

> In Impress:
> - in Insert menu two unlocalizable items: "Points" and "Design Mode"

?

> - in View menu there is one: "Modes Tab Bar"

Not localized (?)

> - in Insert: "Form Control"

?

> - in Format: "Object and Shape"

Not localized

> - in Slide: "Navigate" and "Move" submenu titles;

Not localized

etc.

So mixed results as it seems here
(no qtz file at hand to check the string ID's)

I mentioned this for FR locale on the QA list on December 1st (thread "Building or bibisecting"

... or build process does not merge translations. Just guessing. It happened many times in the past.

I can confirm for Icelandic (is) most of the things Martin/miles mentioned. Not only there are non-localized entries, but also some ID-mingling of strings:

In Writer:
- in Edit menu: "Design Mode" → I don‘t have this in my Writer Edit menu, but “Footnote or Endnote...“ and „Index Entry...“ are not localized;
- in Insert menu: "Form Control" submenu item --> No, but “Footnote or Endnote...“ is not localized;
- in the new Styles menu there is unlocalizable "Text Body" command; → No, but “New Style...“, “Update Style...“ and “Load Styles...“ contextual commands are not localized;

- in Format menu: "Text Box and Shape" submenu item → No, I don‘t have this in my Writer Format menu but “Properties...“ is not localized, repeating itself twice at the bottom → This is really serious!!!;

In Calc:
- in View menu: “Grid Lines for Sheet” not localized;
- in Format – Styles submenu: “New Style...“ and “Update Style...“ not localized;

In Impress:
- in Insert menu two unlocalizable items: "Points" and "Design Mode" → No, but "Form Control" → Confirmed for Icelandic;
- in View menu there is one: "Modes Tab Bar" → Confirmed for Icelandic, but there’s also “Grid and Helplines” not localized;
- in Format: "Object and Shape" → Confirmed for Icelandic;
- in Slide: "Navigate" and "Move" submenu titles;  → Confirmed for Icelandic;

In Draw:
- in Edit: "Points" → Confirmed for Icelandic;
- also in View menu: “Grid and Helplines”;

Actually I already had contact with Christian (Lohmaier) about a similar bug in the LO-opening window where Remote Files menu entry was not localized.

Thing is that all of these entries/strings were correct/visible/translated in 5.1.0.0.alpha1 (looking at it right now)

Example: /fpicker/uiconfig/ui.po

#. JLY9K
#: remotefilesdialog.ui
msgctxt ""
"remotefilesdialog.ui\n"
"RemoteFilesDialog\n"
"title\n"
"string.text"
msgid "Remote Files"
msgstr "Fjartengdar skrár"
Comment 7 Martin Srebotnjak 2015-12-19 10:56:02 UTC
Maxim, this cannot be true for Slovenian.
It was based on Dec 13th po files taken from source and I rechecked this translation with the Dec 16th sources and there were no changed string in between, so Slovenian translation used in this build is for sure a 100 % one.

In Slovenian RC1 that Remote Files button appears localized in the opening window...
Comment 11 Timur 2016-08-02 16:56:07 UTC
Still a bug in 5.1.4.
Comment 12 Yousuf Philips (jay) (retired) 2017-04-23 23:40:18 UTC
Closing this as 5.1 is EOL and the strings should have been translatable since.
