Description Andy 2015-12-22 00:40:53 UTC
In LO 5.1.0.1 all numerical fields that had a couple of small up and down arrows to change the value gradually do not show the arrows anymore. The function is still working, i.e. you can click on the now empty space to the right of the value to change it, but you do not see anything.
This happens really everywhere , any dialog windows ect.
As a an example consider the paragraph dialog window at the indents tab: all numerical filed do not show the up-down arrows.

Invisible arrows in Calc

Just to confirm, same bug, is consistent across the suite (Write and Calc tested). Still occuring in RC2 downloaded just a few minutes ago.

I just wanted to comment that while this could be considered "cosmetic" in the sense that the functionality is still there, I think it would be totally absurd not to correct this for first release possible.

The invisibility of these arrows is terribly confounding, especially for the novice user, and the UI is deeply affected by this.
Besides, such arrows have been an integral part of any PC application for such a long time, that not being able to have them correctly displayed in a 2016 release would look perplexing and worrisome for anyone evaluating the application to decide whether to use it.

In view of this, I would definitely consider this a "critical" problem.

Confirm bug in RC3 (5.1.0.3) on windows 10.

I re-download and re-installed LO 5.1.0.3 that is presently offered as "fresh" release, no more a candidate, and I can confirm that this bug is STILL THERE!!

I really do not understand such a choice, yes this is "cosmetic" in a sense, but is such a blatant UI overlooking that I can imagine people that are not already keen on LO being so negatively impressed by such a pervasive omission of something that anybody would give for granted and consolidated in a circa 1998 application....
I myself will be have to make up an effort to avoid to my students any contact with 5.1.0.3 in the next few weeks, or risk having them deride the program...

I am sorry for the harsh words, but IMHO there is no new functionality or betterment that would justify overlooking such an evident regression.
I have been for example involved in a lengthy and of very little use tormented discussion on new "save" icons, a fraction of the energy put there would have been I think much better spent fixing THIS at once.
Forgive me, I am not very diplomatic this morning
