Description Frans Leerinkcat12gfl 2015-12-23 15:58:52 UTC
Hello,

I was creating a spreadsheet and at a certain moment I noticed that I could not scroll back to rows 1-4. Rows 1-5 and column A are frozen in this spreadsheet, sheet 5 of 5.
I have saved the document, logout as user, shutdown the Calc application and shutdown my system with a short and also along time(night before logging in again. No correction of bug after these actions

I have searched google with the summary keywords, without any helpfull result

Regards, Frans

I'm not entirely sure what "frozen" is supposed to mean here (I'd assume it's set that the mentioned columns/rows always stay visible, but that isn't the case in the sample spreadsheet).

However, rows 1-4 are simply hidden, if you right click the separator between row 5 and the header, and click Show Rows, or double click the separator, the rows will appear again (one by one).
A small issue I can see is that the rows being hidden is not apparent, the separator between normal rows is thicker if there are hidden rows, but here it isn't.

Is that what you were looking for?

Hello,

I am not familiar with hidden lines. I am not aware that I have hidden those lines. So I could not scroll back to those lines and had no idea how I could get them back.
Also I do not know what happens to get in that situation and also not how to get out of this situation, before I got your reply.

Regards, frans

Hi!
Unfortunately it's not possible to tell now how those rows got hidden, because of a bug, or by accident. If you can reproduce it somehow, please let us know.

If there's nothing else, let's focus this report on a bug that might be partly responsible for the confusion:
-if rows/columns are hidden in the middle of the spreadsheet, there's a visual cue (correct),
-if the first few wors/columns are hidden, there's no visual cue (not correct).

It's looked the same since v3.3.0.

Thanks for checking again! Though it's not what you originally reported, let's keep the report open for this, which is still the same in 5.4.2.2:

FWIW, in current versions of Calc, there is a toggle option in menu View > "Hidden Row/Column Indicator". When toggled ON, hidden rows/columns are marked with an additional line/border, and this mark also acts on frozen rows/columns.

Opening attachment 121564 [details] from comment 2 and toggling the option ON, will show the mark above row 5, hinting about the existence of hidden rows above it.

BTW, in attachment 121564 [details] there doesn't seem to be frozen rows; just the first 4 rows are hidden. If there were (frozen rows), the mark would be shown for hidden rows among/within those too.

I would suggest setting this report as WFM by now.

Dear Frans Leerinkcat12gfl,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!
