I have recently migrated from Open Office. I write lengthy reports and always use a past document as the base for the new document. Since moving to LibreOffice, I am experiencing a crash almost every time I attempt to use 'find and replace'. Sometimes it works for the first one, but on subsequent ones it crashes after I have pressed "Replace All'. Have tried with a completely new document as a test and the same thing happens. Happens whether I use the icon on the toolbar or go through EDIT. Also, I save the document before I go to 'find and replace', however if it crashes the last save is not always acknowledged. Frustrating, but otherwise a fabulous program guys. Thanks to all involved.
Please try resetting the user profile, sometimes solves strange issues. https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile Usually it's enough renaming/deleting the file "user/registrymodifications.xcu", it affect all the options in Menu/Tools/Options, and the files "user/basic/dialog.xlc" and "scrip.xlc" are overwritten, additionally custom colors in "user/config/standard.soc" are lost.
Thanks for your quick response - unfortunately it has not fixed the problem in document currently working in. However, have just tested using 'replace''only, not 'replace all' and it works in current document. Also, have tested with a completely new document, 'find and replace' working.
Can you attach the (sanitized) document? https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Bugzilla/Sanitizing_Files_Before_Submission
Created attachment 121866 [details] Report It was tricky to sanitise the document, given the find and replace is the problem. However, found a workaround - highlighted sections of the text, then initiated command for find and replace and it worked. Had to select 'Current selection only' under 'Other options' in 'Find and Replace'. Have also deleted first page and last few pages which contained photographs as these could not be sanitised. Hope there is enough to work with.
