Created attachment 122028 [details] Original DOC When importing doc PB LO.doc, drawing is unreadable. It seems that many textboxes have a 0 size. So text is vertical instead of being horizontal. The text boxes seem not to be at the right place too If I save the DOC file to DOCX format, using Word 2007. and open it with LO. The result is quite better, but a big black rectangle appears

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding ** To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone! Problem still exists With LO 6..3.4.2
This contains some grouped shapes, that has black background color set in Word, but seemingly ignored by it, but not ignored by Writer. Also the grouped shapes are somewhat distorted and misplaced.
Created attachment 165273 [details] Minimized test document in Word and Writer side by side This has a lot fewer shapes grouped, so hopefully it's gonna be easier to debug the backgrounds blackness.

Created attachment 170557 [details] How the original docx and the reduced one look in current Writer The complete blackness of the docx seems to be gone since: https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=767ec919f09e5ed69149ed27bd46a6bb67556863 author Regényi Balázs <regenyi.balazs@nisz.hu> 2020-09-30 15:19:36 +0200 committer Michael Stahl <michael.stahl@cib.de> 2020-10-07 10:14:26 +0200 tdf#105875 DOCX VML shape import: fix missing rotation Now it is clearly visible that the grouped drawing objects positioning is a bit off compared to Word.

Created attachment 177431 [details] DOC saved as DOCX with Word 2016 DOC and DOCX are different and they would need 2 bugs. But let's keep here until something changes. DOC is still awful. Attached 2007 DOCX as as shown, almost good. DOCX resaved in MSO 2016 opens wrong and worse than 2007.
(In reply to Timur from comment #13) > Created attachment 177431 [details] > DOCX resaved in MSO 2016 opens wrong and worse than 2007. I'm confused. When I open this last one, it looks identical to the supposedly good PDF output from comment 2. MSO 2007 had some really crazy behaviour. I wouldn't really trust anything that came out of that. repro 7.6 that DOC and 2007 DOCX look very ugly.
