Created attachment 122200 [details] Errror on exit messages This has been reported for earlier release versions, then listed as "solved" because it could not reproduced on a later version. This is the latest general release version of LibreOffice 4 and the error is still present. Exiting LibreOffice after closing file causes a pop-error message. Message refers to memory read error, but exact content can vary, I have attached two examples. PLEASE NOTE: Those of us who are dependent on Windows XP run in a VMware VM CANNOT UPDATE TO VERSION 5 OF LIBREOFFICE, which has become a huge memory hog. It is imperative that Document Foundation (who I am a monetary supporter of) maintain version 4. Thanks!
If you take a look to https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan, you'll see that 4.4.7 version is the last TDF official version of 4.4 branch. Now, you have several choices: - debug yourself the problem with 4.4 sources - pay some people to do it - contributing on > 5.0 branch by providing bugtrackers so you may help to tackle these memory problems. Of course test last stable version, 5.0.4, before reporting these. (you'll need XP SP3 according to this link: https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/system-requirements/#windows)
I forgot to indicate that the first test was to give a try after having renaming your LO directory profile (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Windows) Also, you may attach some files so we can give it a try (have in mind that any attachment is automatically made public so remove any private/confidential part from it, see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Bugzilla/Sanitizing_Files_Before_Submission)
Paying TDF will not get you updates to 4.4.x. Paying some of these guys will: https://www.documentfoundation.org/certification/developers/
We don't really terminate very cleanly. I've submitted https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/35071/ to gerrit, code is very isolated and I guess it might help here. Bug 106489 discusses the issue around osl_terminateProcess.
Moving to NEW as Chris is working on it...
** Please read this message in its entirety before responding ** To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone! Warm Regards, QA Team MassPing-UntouchedBug
Since we have a single reporter and we cannot reproduce this and there was a fix in Bug 106489, I'll set to Needinfo. But if a reporter is still with LO 4.4 and not with 5.4 or more, than we'll have to close this one.
Since you didn't respond, I'll close. If you answer, please set back to Unconfirmed.
