When the Save icon is clicked in a Query or a Form, or in the main database window itself, it does not grey out in 5.1.0.3, as I think it does in 5.0.4.2. Greying the icon out is useful for two reasons: 1) Because the un-greyed icon serves as a reminder that there are unsaved changes, and 2) To offer reassurance that the Save icon was in fact clicked and the Save has taken effect. NOTE: This is similar to bug 96590 which was reported against CALC. Possibly same cause?
Further to the report below, it now appears that the Save does not even work. After I click the Save icon after editing a form, or making a change to the database itself, a dialogue box appears asking if I want to save the document/database to avoid losing the changes. So I have would like to upgrade the Severity of this report from minor to normal or major, but don't have the authority to do so.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96590#c18 It won't be 'greying out' though. Save works for me on Version: 5.2.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: 91a7580e03d5b47c6e2513afce85ddee45e730b6 CPU Threads: 1; OS Version: Windows 6.1; UI Render: default; TinderBox: Win-x86@39, Branch:master, Time: 2016-02-03_23:51:42
The save-button will be signed by a (green) star since LO 5.1.0.3. If the star appears the content had been changed. There has been added other save-functions in the context-menue of the button. So it couldn't be greyed out. For me it isn't a bug any more, because it shows there is something to save and the button has been change for adding more functions in the context-menue. Have tested this with a form. Saved the form by the button - works. No dialog appears after saving the form and closing it. Green star appears on the save-button of Base-main-window. here I could save the content, too. All tested with LO 5.1.0.3, OpenSUSE 42.1 64bit rpm Linux.
If saving is still malfunctioning, maybe try this: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Resolving_corruption_in_the_user_profile I guess the original cause for the report is WORKSFORME?
This is a duplicate of bug 96590. Discussions have been made there. It isn't a special Base-bug. So I will set this one (missing greyed out) as a duplicate. If there appears another bug while saving please report this other bug separately. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 96590 ***
